Questions

  1. Are the 100+ locked cars gonna be available to everyone eventually? I mean, Forza 7 locked a bunch of cars away and everyone complained loud enough they eventually made all cars available for purchase for everyone. Forza Horizon 4 does pretty much the same thing and…Are we fine with it? I mean, it’s winter in North America I don’t think Playground fully understands what that means. It means power outages and dinner by candlelight. If the power goes out for a week, someone has missed out on at least 2 cars. And there are a lot of good cars just locked away, awaiting to resurface at some point. That’s not cool, right? Right? Am I the only one?

  2. Why do I need to be online to restrict events by class? I mean, that implies the Classes are made up and the PI doesn’t matter.

  3. Why can’t I access my created routes without creating another route? That seems like extra work just to see stuff I made. That’s like making a chef make another dish just to see the dishes he’s already made. All that’s gonna get you is a lot of terrible dishes.

  4. Why can’t we sort cars by power? I guess that would mess with classes, but, we’ve already established they’re made up, so I don’t really see what the problem is.

  5. Why is anything but physically moving your car in the open world or a race considered “inactivity”? I mean, I come out of making a course and I’m offline. I assume because the game left a empty shell sitting in the open world and because that wasn’t actually moving, I was considered “inactive” despite me actually moving around in the route creator. And looking through my car collection doesn’t count as “active” either. Nearly 600 cars in my garage and it took logging into the internet about 4 times to organize them on a spreadsheet. Yeah, Turn10 that’s something people do with racing games. Some of us just like to do time trials and don’t care about the races and stuff. Others just like driving round and don’t care about the races and “required” activities if we want to unlock more cars.

See, everyone keeps singing the praises of Horizon 4 and I’m just not entirely convinced a “casual” open world driving game that’s trying desperately NOT to be casual and love to reward the not-so-casual players should be awarded with such praises. LEGO was a good expansion. It brought in a lot of players…which they then sort of punished by starting Seasonal Events and The Eliminator. So…unpopular opinion: Forza Horizon 4 isn’t the best racing game ever.

why you need all cars in the game ??

Especially when most of these cars are half-broken…

LOL, because it’s a racing game?

Exact same thing came to my mind ! +1

no… its a racing game, not collector racing game… get gud

Because they are there.

Another aspect is that you are forced to play the game the publisher wants you to. If I don´t get a car today I may not get it in six weeks or six months, when I may have plenty of time for playing.

It´s OK to have cars locked in a story and you unlock them while you progress. Or the expensive cars which are affordable only after several races and career promotions. But that is my choice how and when I play the game.

I was positively surprised when all cars in FM7 were made available, but it was at the point when there was no further development game-wise. FH4 could follow the same path I hope, because there are way too many cars unavailable in the autoshow.

I mean, why do I NOT need all the cars in the game? It’s a car game. Who doesn’t want to get all the cars in a car game? Isn’t that sort of the point of having 600+ cars in-game?

For some people the game is about driving or racing, not about collecting for the sake of it.

You’re 100% correct… Driving and racing the cars in the game… It’s not like you like you have 1 car in the garage, you want to drive and race all of them which why all of them should be available to buy and drive… not unlocked once and if you miss it you can’t drive that car.

Has any one notice you haven’t paid ONCE for car pack DLC like older games used to have? Their used to be car packs every month paying $10 extra a month for the newest cars… That has changed in form of having the new cars available to unlock during a certain week which is okay with me. I would rather do it this way then paying an extra $100 over a year for new cars.

I agree though that it sucks for people who don’t have a chance to get them, don’t have live etc. When I first heard FM7 was doing this for multiple cars I didn’t buy the game because I had already missed cars what I wanted to race, they lost a sale because of it… To the people complaining who “paid $60 for a full game” you’re right you paid $60 for the game and the cars what came with the game at release.

I agree, the whole locked cars system and the associated seasonal events and festival playlist (and wheelspins) is probably the single worst aspect of FH4.

Sadly, unless something major changes at PG, I don’t think they’ll unlock the cars. FH3 still has locked cars, which are now forever unobtainable (unless you get lucky on the AH).

FM7 was made by Turn10 who seem to consist of actual car people, unlike PG who don’t seem to understand how frustrating it is to be arbitrarily locked out of enjoying certain vehicles.

In terms of why they’re doing this, I think it comes down to the whole flawed games as a service concept to try to drive sales of xbox game pass and gold. If they dole out the new cars via time-gated events with a very real possibility of that vehicle never being readily available again, it motivates players to log in weekly if at all possible, and prevents them from blowing through the game in a few weeks so they need to keep their subscription active. Not respectful at all of players, but it kind of works to keep them playing (in the short term at least until they get fed up and stop playing entirely).

I also hope that all of the Cars are added into the Autoshow when the Game goes End of Life as I Personally need to be able to Collect every Car Available in a Game in order to Feel like I have had My Money’s worth out of the Game.

Due to Playgrounds Continual Anti-Player Insistence on Locking Cars up behind Online Multiplayer (which I Personally consider a form of Disability Discrimination, as there are Disabilities out there that leave People unable to Cope with the Sheer Aggression and Hyper Toxic Social Aspects of Online Multiplayer! unfortunately, I have just such a Disability Myself) events, there are a Number of Cars I am not going to be able to get Otherwise as there is no sign of them in the Auction House, if they are not added to the Autoshow, I will not be able to Collect them!

This makes Me Extremely Angry, as, in My Personal Opinion, as those Cars were added into the Game for Free, I consider them Part of the Purchase Price, meaning I, again, in My own Personal Opinion and Views, have Paid Real Money for them, and, am, thus, In My Personal Opinion, Entitled to them as a Paying Customer!

Hopefully, Playground will follow in Turn 10’s Footsteps and make all Cars available in the Autoshow when the Game goes EOL so I can get My Moneys Worth out of the Game!

If they do not, then I am DONE with Microsoft as a Game Publisher and will never Purchase another Xbox Console or another Microsoft Published Game, Regardless of who has Developed it, Again! as Microsoft’s Continual Focus on “Live Services” and Forcing Participation in Online Multiplayer in all of their Games will mean that their Games will contain ever larger amounts of Content that I will never be able to Acquire, Despite the fact I have PAID Real Money for that Content via Purchasing the Game in the First Place, due to it being locked behind Multiplayer! Meaning Xbox/Microsoft Games will become a Colossal Waste of Money for Me and I for one, being on Disability Benefits as I am Considered “Unemployable” due to a Combination of My Disabilities (including a Developmental Delay which has left Me with the mentality of a Ten Year Old!) and My Severe Mental Health Issues literally just cannot Afford to Waste My Money like that!

Yikes.

To people asking why people want to collect all cars, how does it affect your gameplay? Forza allows people to drive, race, collect cars, tune cars, paint cars, take photos, etc.

Big yikes

I think the complaining is a bit overdone, there are vastly more cars in this game than in the NFS games for example. I tried NFS Payback recently on sale (which has 74 cars apparently) and I found that the game doesn’t allow you to change your controller buttons or even turn off vibration. Apparently the latest game NFS Heat is the same (and has 127 cars, still only a quarter of FH4’s.)

You can get almost any car if you want it, one way or the other. If there’s a few you can’t get, your life will go on, the car you didn’t get, in reality would not have made your life complete, it would not have driven much different to any of the other hundreds you already have. I think people could get a bit of perspective.

Until now, every cars locked behind achievement went to forzathon shop. I hope it will be the same for the recent ones. I don’t care not being able to have all cars BUT, I anticipate the day they will lock some Boneshaker or Track-tor behind an online Eliminator like feature, would be bad move, but they have done so many of these so far …

You Talk of Perspective FullNietzsche, like the Re-incarnation of Anton Ego.

Allow Me to Explain My Perspective.

FH4, in “Ultimate Edition” Form (which I mistakenly bought believing it would Eventually include all of the Games Content in the Purchase Price!) Cost Me as close as makes No Difference £100. £100 is TWO Benefits Payments in their Entirety. As a Result, I need to get My Moneys worth to Justify spending that much money on a Single Product so as to Prevent My Parent-Carers coming down on Me like the Proverbial tonne of Bricks!

As I cannot use the Multiplayer Mode due to the Combination of My Disabilities and Mental Health issues, and Playground Refusing to add Split-Screen Multiplayer with Bots ( which is a Form of Multiplayer I can cope with absolutely Fine as I know who I am playing against as they are sitting Right next to Me on the Sofa!) , and therefore cannot use the Entirety of the Product, I get My Moneys Worth from Forza Titles Via Collecting All of the Games Cars.

if I am unable to get all the Games Cars, I am not able to get My Money’s worth out of the Game, Meaning I have Wasted that Money, and, as said, that is something I Literally Cannot Afford to Do! Because it takes Two Months to Recoup that amount of Money and that is if I do not Buy anything at all during those Two Months, so its actually closer to 5 Months to recoup that lost Money, so I Simply cannot afford to waste it on a Product that, for Me Personally, is Poor Value for Money!

The Perspective, for Me, is based on Value for Money, if a Game has only 187 Cars (I think that’s what Project CARS 2 has all in…Correct Me if I am Wrong!) , but I am Personally able to Collect All 187 Cars as they do not have any Time Gate Limitations or “Forced Multiplayer Participation” Walls in the Way, then that Game, for Me, is the one that Presents better Value for Money, as I would have Gotten what I Paid for, a Full Collection of Cars!, than a Game with, Say, 800 Cars, but only 720 of which are available for Me because the other 80 are locked Up, Permanently, in Multiplayer, meaning I have Wasted part of My Money as I cannot get the Full Collection of Cars that I Paid for!, so I cannot get My Moneys Worth, so the Game offers Less value for Money for Me Personally and I have Wasted Money that takes Me an Extremely long Time to Recover, because Games these Days, are, In My Opinion, Overpriced in the Extreme!! The Right Price, for an “Ultimate/Complete” Edition, In My Personal Opinion, is £30, so £100 is absolutely Ludicrous as far as I am Personally Concerned, Yet £100 is exactly what “Ultimate/Complete” Editions cost these Days!

If I had known in Advance the Game would Lock Cars up behind Multiplayer and/or Anti-Player “Time Gates” , I would Not Have Purchased it! because I would Know I would not be able to get My Moneys Worth out of it and would have known the Game was poor Value for Money and I would have Purchased a Cheaper title, Possibly FM7 Ultimate (where I would now be able to collect ALL of the Games Cars and thus get My Moneys Worth due to them all being made Available in the Autoshow when the Game went End Of Life!!) if I could find it for around £20-£30 in an XBL Sale!

Does that Put My issues into Perspective for You? I cannot get My Moneys worth from the Game at the Moment due to its Current Unlock System, and therefore have Wasted Money I literally cannot afford to Waste because it takes so long to Recover it, and not only have to Deal with My Own Personal Disappointment and Anger at the Game’s Developers using such an Anti-Player Unlock system and making a Game that is Vastly below My Expectations for a Horizon Title (I expect a Genre Defining Masterpiece, not Yet Another “Live Services” Also-Ran Disappointment that is Defined only by Having a Half Decent Handling Model at its Core!) , I also have My Parent-Carers giving Me absolute Hellfire for Wasting so much Money on one Game and it is Driving. Me. Nuts!

Now do You see where I am coming From!? I am getting Flack from all Sides, Myself- as I am Kicking Myself for buying a Game that is nothing like the earlier Horizon Titles (2/3 mainly) and is, IMO, Vastly Inferior to them in Every way, Shape, and Form and having gone Long past the Refund Point, the “Elitist” Players - who only want Themselves and their Multiplayer Buddies to have the Best Carsb because they “Got Gud” or some other such Elitist Rubbish and are thus Dead Opposed to any Calls made, by anyone, for all the Cars to be Added to the Autoshow, and My Parent-Carers, because I have Purchased a Very Expensive Game which is not Providing Me with Value for Money because the Developers seem to have Forgotten about Users with Disabilities and Mental Health issues and have gone with a Car Unlock System that is Downright Unsuitable for Some of those users!

Just some Perspective for You, a chance to see the Game and its Issues from My Eyes!

All the Cars being added into the Autoshow when the Game goes End of Life would Mean I would be able to Stop Playing, move onto other, better, Games, then come back when the Game is EOL, get My Moneys Worth from the Game by being able to Acquire the Entire Collection of Cars within it, and My Parent-Carers would stop giving My a Right Old Yammering over Me “Wasting My Money” ! it would make everything considerably better for Me!

Without wanting to get too ‘amateur psychologist’ about things, it seems to me that you have made the choice - and it is a choice - to get upset about this particular thing, when in fact you could equally choose not to get upset about it. This isn’t a situation that is objectively ‘bad’, only you deciding it is, makes it so, for you. You can just as well decide that it’s fine, you can deal with it, and there are plenty of other activities in the game you can find to enjoy, if you want to.

Remember, you’ve already spent that money and that is one thing that can’t be changed. Only your own perception of whether it was well spent or not can change. And look, even if you decide that no matter what, it was a waste of money, no good can come from dwelling on it. It’s part of life, everyone at times will buy, or do, something they later regret, and accepting it and moving on is part of life. And learning not to make mountains out of molehills. There are tougher challenges in life than missing out on a few cars in a video game.

Well said.

My only issue is the way things end up being priced in the auction house, mostly because of this star card thing that dictates what the buyout limit is. That’s a pet peeve of mine. That, and how long it took for me to get a Foxbody '93 Cobra because of the sniping.

I sorta feel like everything should be available from the autoshow, but get why it’s not. Maybe bring buyout limits for some of those down from 20 mill? I don’t know. All I know is that this is the slowest I’ve been able to build up credits and accumulate downloads for paints and tunes. …and possibly the least interested I’ve been in a campaign on a Forza game.

I have been able to get a few of the cars I was missing via the Auction House. And I noticed that the 10 million credit cars in the Autoshow are available for like 2 million at Auction. That said, the PROBLEM with the Auction House is…well…why is a '92 Prelude worth 2 million? Or a Mini Countryman? Or a Crown Vic? Why is a VW Karmann Ghia worth 20 million whenever it shows up. See, the problem with the Auction House is that it creates and inflated since of value to what are really terrible cars that no one in a million years would pay that much real world money for. I think the MOST I’ve seen a Ghia go for is 78,000 USD. And it was a custom build with a new engine and suspension and the works.

So, yeah, for the sake of the more realistic minded of us, let’s hope the Autoshow gets some new editions eventually. I’m not saying tomorrow. End of Life for the game is fine. That’s what happened to FM7 kind of, and that’s fine.

Speaking of Auction House, there’s some of you dirty dirty snipers out there. I don’t know how you literally bid on something last second…but I’ve also notice when the game says “ending soon” it really means “We’re only letting a select few people actually bid.”
