Attention racers,
Event 40 is over, and here are the abridged results, with full results and more on the event sheet.
PHLS#41 officially starts now, with a bunch of V10s.
Much like the inline-5, the V10 is a rare configuration, sitting somewhat awkwardly between the more noble V12 and the far more popular V8.
The first production V10 petrol engine was actually the Viper engine, which set the Viper apart from other US muscle and sports car. Developed with help from Lamborghini (at the time part of the Chrysler Group) which had worked on a V10 intended for the Diablo. The Viper V10 has also been used in the Ram SRT-10, as a way to one-up Ford’s F-150 Lightning, and in a few bespoke sports cars, including the Spania GTA Spano.
Though Lamborghini ended up using the Bizzarrini V12 for the Diablo, a V10 was developed with Audi for use in the new entry-level sports car, the Gallardo. That engine ended up in both the Gallardo and Huracan, and cars based on the platform, including the Sesto Elemento and Audi R8. Other V10 engines exist in the Volkswagen Group which aren’t based on the Lamborghini/Audi V10.
Other V10s found in the game include the F1-hommage BMW S85 of the E60 M5 and M6, the motorsport-derived Porsche V10 of the Carrera GT, and the legendary-sounding Yamaha V10 of the Lexus LFA.
