HLR HLCs Series 3 - Event 35 (Finale) - Complete - See you in Season 4

We are back following our Summer break and we decided to attempt running competitions in both FM7 and H4.

In the coming weeks we’ll be hosting regular fortnightly Hot Lap Competitions in both games along similar lines to our last series, with leaderboards kept as up-to-date as possible. The H4 and FM7 competitions will be staggered by a week to ease our admin tasks.
We hope that everyone joining in will get pleasure from the shared challenges we present. Everyone is welcome!

Here are the Rules:

Each event will last 14 days, running from 9pm (UK time) on Wednesdays. Yes, we’ve changed the time.

To take part you just need to post your time, set during the fortnight, in this thread.
The reward will primarily be bragging rights but we will be offering prize liveries to the winners.
The first event for H4 started on 4th September, with the FM7 event starting this Wednesday on the 11th.

Drivers will be split into 4 tiers depending on their times set at each HLC:
1 Unbeatable
2 Professional
3 Expert
4 Highly Skilled

Prize liveries will be awarded to Tier winners and to the Tuner posting a time and sharing a setup that is driven by another competitor to the highest place on the leaderboard at the end of the week.

New drivers will join a tier for the following week’s HLC dependant on the time they set. They can only win tier 1 in their first week.

Winners of tiers 2, 3, and 4 wll be promoted to the tier above.

Losers of tiers 1, 2, and 3 will be relegated to the tier below, unless their time is better than the winner of the tier below.

Other drivers from tiers 1, 2, and 3 can be relegated if more than 3 drivers from the tier below beat their time.

If a driver does not post a time they will not be relegated but if a driver doesn’t post a time for 4 consective weeks their name will be removed from the tiers. If that driver rejoins at a later date they will be treated like a new driver.

2011 Mercedes-Benz #35 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 (R873 only)
2009 BMW #92 Rahal Letterman Racing M3 GT2 (R886 only)

32 cars! How do you choose the ones to run? It could get expensive to build them all. but only 10 of them can be built to R900 with the 2014 Jaguar reaching R896. I’ve separated those cars on the above list to avoid people wasting hard won credits buying and building potentially non-competitive cars.

In the same spirit, most of those cars are probably still faster than the #45 Flying Lizard Porsche, R900 be damned. If anyone decides to run it, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Coincidentally, that’s the car I’ll be running. I’ve spent the last week or two trying (and failing) to flog it into competitive enough shape to run in single player Forza GT races, so I’d be daft to waste all that (already wasted) effort on a different car. Basically all I’ll need to do is uncork the engine, adjust the gearing, and hit the tarmac.

I will add that the Cayman is a pretty slick little beastie. Very snappy without being wild. Not sure how well it’s make the transition beyond R835, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one of the stronger competitors.

I have an R900 tune for it that I use for the track day lobby, it’s a great car, but I’m thinking it may be a difficult choice for Prague, might need to adjust it some more. I managed to get it settled down quite a bit, but it still bites you if you aren’t careful. I’m looking forward to seeing how it stacks up.

Good luck everyone!

Off to a reasonable start using the AM007 - 1:47.122 courtesy of using Barnycull’s tune.

1:49.0 with the Audi TT

On xbox and using the wheel.

It’s tough with the wheel!

The Aston has served me well in the past and I have a great build on it already so starting there and also can say the same of the Nissan… :kissing:

1:46.289 - in the 007 Aston with Barny’s tune :+1:

Xbox one with controller

Got a starting time of 1:46.3xx.
Xbox and on wheel

Big surprise: I’m apparently incapable of just driving the car as-is. Spent an hour or so today completely retuning everything except the gearbox and tires. I don’t think I’m every going to be 100% happy with any setup, as tuning out the high-speed understeer exascerbates the archetypal squirrely Porsche posterior and vice versa. Makes tuning the car something of an cyclical task.

Current least-worst: 1:52.577

Edit to add: XBone + wheel. Forgot that bit.

Ran the #59 McLaren 12C… 1:49.987

Using controller. Tune shared.

1:46.967 with the Cayman, not too shabby. Tune shared (Prague 2), but I just wanted to see how it went against everything else, mainly.

The Aston is looking strong though, so I will definitely give that a run.
