Tried doing a search for my own design with one key word “monster” but my design never shows up since it is full and any more designs that are new will never show up. If you make a new monster design on a car and want to share it, that new design will not come up in search function since it is already full and players are using that keyword for designs that are not related to the word. I have designs with zero downloads and the ones imported from horizon 3 are a lot of them. Anyone know if they are looking into this? Do i need to delete and then import them again. This seems to be a hit or miss depending on when you are sharing for it to be on the top 20 and then you basically have 24 hrs to get as many downloads as possible and after that none. Any insight would be helpful
If you are going for a large amount of downloads, you’ll have to be original, make some advertisement for yourself here or on youtube or similar or simply take part in one of the weekly competitions.
System we have now is kinda ok, don’t know how to change it. There are thousands of liveries of all kind uploaded every hour, how should a system sort them in a way everything is seen? Impossible. Also, the results of a keyword search seem to be limited for some technical reason, but I guess I don’t need more than 200 entries for a Monster livery for a specific car. If you want mass downloads, the best bet is getting featured for contest wins and show off your stuff here for people to recognize it.
All I am requesting is a chance for newer designs to be seen and opportunity for downloads. I am checking if they are looking into this or is this the system we have in place. Seems easier to get downloads in horizon 3 so in that respect they had a system in place and disrupted it with the change to this one. I already aware of contest and featuring here and have not done that yet and also did not state I looking for mass downloads all though would not mind but is not why I finally decided to post my concern here.
I didn’t mean to offend you, I just don’t see any better way to present the hundreds of thousands uploaded designs equally distributed to everybody. The current way to split “Last uploaded/Followed Artist/T10 Featured/Most downloaded” on the front page is best thing I can imagine, because I just don’t know how to do it better. The limited entries for a search could be higher, but I think not many people will scroll through more than 500 entries after they searched for a keywoard. Maybe the coming database upgrade that will increase the garage and tuning limit will help in that matter too. I don’t know a better system. I think its just too much data for that matter.
There still must be a better way to get paints up for people to see. It’s ok when front page is dominated by really original nice work, but some examples are just terrible. When I pressed “Find livery” for hoonigan’s ford focus, most of front page was just default paint with no or minimal visible difference, all having hundreds or thousands of downloads.
A quick thing I’d think to implement, is incorporate “Follow” option into the same dialog that offers you to Like the livery you used a few times. As of now, to follow the artist you need to take a deliberate action which absolute majority would never do.
Another thing is extra dialog to offer to choose livery for the car you own but didn’t buy. E.g. when you buy a ride from Autoshow you are offered to choose one but if you won the car from the Wheel or got from Forzathon shop (or acquired by any other means) and then use it, you’re just using default color and need to specifically go looking for paints if you want to change it.
Minor tweaks really, no major system rehaul but ones that would bump paints from someone you already might like and give you faster ways to apply paints for cars you have.
“Find New Designs” is probably the first place people go when looking for a livery. It shows ~20 designs on the main page. Up until a couple of weeks ago, it was segmented into 5-or-so recently uploaded designs, another 10-or-so trending today designs, and the rest were popular designs. This seemed to work okay, as it gave new designs a little exposure. If you managed to get enough downloads when it was listed as a new design, it could get promoted to trending today, and maybe get a little momentum behind it. But they seem to have removed the recently uploaded section, and now they are all trending today or popular designs. So, I don’t know how you are supposed to get exposure for a new design, unless you have a number of friends that are willing to help you out.
I’m going to check on this when I get home from work today. The last time I checked, the recommended designs feature was working properly … the 20 designs you were shown came from 4 categories in order:
T10/PG featured designs
Designs by creators you follow
Newly shared designs
Most downloaded designs
This system was broken at launch, but they fixed it a couple of months later. So it was working as intended as of about a month or so ago. It’s been a while since I actually checked it, but it’s a real shame if it’s not working properly again. As this is the only way that painters can get their work seen.
The new system is kinda weird. I uploaded designs i worked on for hours and the still did not get realized anymore. Its kinda sad to see that a lot of nice designs from painters just don´t get the attention they deserve.
With the old system there was a slightly chance your design was listed. Last week i got lucky and one of my designs was somehow featured, so i got 5k+ downloads for it but my other works still have few or zero downloads.
I hope they make some changes in the way designs are been shown, maybe back to the “old” system. That would be a nice move for all the painters, which work hours and hours for fantastic designs and updates for their design lines.
I also don´t know whats the advantage of the “Follower-System”. At the moment i have around 65 followers, but it seems they don´t notice my new designs. So what is this all about? If anyone has a deeper look into that i would appreciate a short explanation
If I understand it right, paints from followed authors always show up first for them when they look for new paints (provided followed author posted anything for that car).
So, follower will not get notified that you posted anything new, but if they, say looking for livery for their new Lamborghini Huracan and you created one any time before, it will show up for them first in the list.
At least that’s how it works for me with Tunes, tunes from guys I follow are always first in the list when I’m looking for a new tune.
That’s also how it works for paints. So having followers is only helpful if one of your followers is in a car that you have a shared design for … and they are searching for a design. Otherwise, having followers has not other impact at all.
