Paint influence?

Sounds promising :slightly_smiling_face:

That doesn’t

Aye they did something anyways. My winning design is now a featured design for the Nissan GTR. So take it they fixed that for all of them.

They had better retroactively feature contest winners or they’re gonna have to deal with my Magnum Force

heheh get it. Seriously though, it was because of the expectation of getting my liveries featured that I chose to enter the cars that I did. Do you think it was an accident that my first two entries were for the Charger and 037 respectively, two cars that nearly a third of the players have in their garage? C’mon

I’m with ya here Ace. I checked several contest winners yesterday and am still not seeing them show up as Featured Designs under the Recommended section. But they are making some changes and I am now seeing paints from creators I follow and newly shared paints instead of just the ones with the most downloads since launch like it has been.

Updating my previous post. Livery contest winners from contest 4 are now showing up as ā€˜Featured Items’ under Recommended Designs. Looks like they’ve addressed that issue.

@Ace … to your point about retroactive features … that’s not how it works. Contest-winning designs are only featured for one week until the next contest is judged. So there won’t be any going back and retroactively featuring any previous contest winners.

^Comforting to hear but it still doesn’t really do jack for a guy with 4,000 downloads across both liveries and logos. Only 46,000 more downloads to go until I can have a fair play in the auction house!

In previous titles once a design got Turn 10 Select status it was permanently pinned to the front of the Recommended queue when people search for designs for their car.

For me that was the appeal of entering the contests, as it would result in many downloads over the course of a game’s lifetime.

That’s true … it did work like that. But I think I actually like a rotation better. It gives more of the community more of an opportunity to get their work in front of more players. Meaning likely more community involvement and a better content creation environment with more quality content for the community.

Edit: Then there’s also the added benefit of more competition forcing established painters like PJTierney to keep churning out quality content and not sitting back and resting on their laurels. (Just pullin’ your chain a bit.)

For peeps like me with designs with just a hand full of downloads would never rack up downloads to rank up (get 5 star rating). So I would rather T10 selects would stay featured on the top row. If the top row fills up, then the designs could start to rotate. This system we have now is deeply flawed.

I guess I don’t get it or that I’m just thinking more of the community as a whole. Seems that some painters who were complaining before because nothing was changing and all we saw were the same 20 paints based on most downloads … are now wanting the recommended paints to stay the same now that contest winners are being featured. I guess it’s okay to have static featured paints as long as they’re your paints … but it’s not okay if it’s someone else’s.

I get what you are saying but the problem is it reverted to how it was before, the same 20 that was there before are still there. My design vanished and the same old one colored designs are still featured, with some exceptions that totally deserve it. Would you not want a T10 select instead of a gold painted car with chrome wheels? IĀ“m all in for a plethora of different designs but it does not work at the moment. If you weren’t one of the first ones sharing designs you are done for. The whole system needs redoing.

So … yes, it’s almost back to how it is in previous games. We now see a rotation of featured designs after they’ve won a livery contest, paints by creators we follow, newly shared paints, and finally most downloaded paints by the community. Seeing as you think the whole system needs to be reworked, what suggestions would you make? Other than leaving featured paints up indefinitely (which could eventually eliminate seeing any other paints) what would you want to see?

Within boundaries of the current system I would like see the the top row/page (depending of how many there are) of T10/PG selects and curated designs on a rotating basis. And second tab as is, rotating designs (minus all the one colored cars) with a filter system with options like popular last 24h, week, month, all time and designs with low download that are rising in popularity.

But ultimately I would like to have a store front system similar to the one in FM4. I wasn“t broke and didn“t need fixing, just some development and evolution. Everything in same place, photos, tunes, designs and auctions and with a proper preview function. Think online shopping, the products has to be easy to find and easy to preview before download.

This is totally ok for me, and probably the maximum possible mechanic, other than the impossible manual picking. (And even manual picking people would complain because they think Livery X is better than Livery Y). We still have the search, which is not good to use, but it is there. Previews of liveries, filters not resetting every button click, better keywording and usability like that would probably help us finding a matching livery more than more automatic featuring. I don’t know how many liveries (including the odd 1 color ones) are shared in their database… probably millions.

And just get rid of the influence on design, that makes the whole thing such a spam of dead data imho.

Wouldn’t that cause problems over time? I would love that but some cars are overrepresented and there would be 100 recommended 240sx soon. Would work better when they would theme the contests every week. Something like: "Next weeks contest is themed ā€œHot Hatch Halloweenā€ or ā€œDatsun 510 Festivalā€ and they would pick a fixed amount of winners. Or did I miss something?

Unless I’m experiencing server issues, and not that it matters, but whatever downloads I had have erased and all my designs are now reading 0s - it have checked twice today at separate times and my download totals are all saying 0 ?? Isolated incident? Anyone else ??

Where are you seeing that? I have seen it before when just scrolling through designs they all show 0 downloads. But if you actually select one, where you have the option to share/unshare or rename, you will still see the actual downloads, likes and uses for that design. Might check and see if that’s the case for you.

Surely will :+1:t2:

this is certainly better then before.
I dont know what is possible on the programming end but I would like to see a good sorting function.
First page as it is
sort by: New releases
sort by: Most downloads
sort by: Most popular (based on number of downloads in last 48 hours)

I beleive we had a similar system in one of the previous games, ithat worked, i dont see why that had to change.
