Simple suggestion: add Practice and Challenge the Grid options when setting up Free Play events.
These features exist and are already working in career. It should be a trivial addition and there’s no reason they can’t exist for Free Play.
Additional options could allow players to manually set the required amount of laps for practice, or to add more time to practice, or leave it all auto.
Additional options could allow players to automatically set grid positions (for themselves and AI) in ascending order (fastest time first), descending order (slowest time first), or touring-style (fastest 12 in descending order then slowest 12 in ascending order).
