I’m having a blast on this new FH5, despite some technical difficulties.
However, I’d like to discuss a topic about flags around drift zones.
Context:
When I launched the game the first time, I looked for a nice touge zone, like the famous drift downhill on the Fortune Island, that i’ve climbed and downed too many times.
I found one magnificent downhill zone at the east of the Caldera Volcano. i.e. Cara Este
I drifted it. I loved it. I touge’ed it with a friend, Amazing and beautifull downhill, with a biome alteration on the way.
Then I progressed in the game and I installed the Horizon Rush scene.
And therefor, the Cara Este Drift Zone appeared,
Great news but… there is a but.
Problem:
All those flags, there to show the only goddamn road, are totally ruining the spot
It was green, natural, cool and sleek.
Visually, all these flags, every 50m, are just ruinning the view and honestly, they are useless, ulgy and way more numerous than on the FI down hill.
Wish:
Could we remove these flags, or at least remove some.
An option to hide them would be a good alternative.
I completely agree. The developers created such a beautiful road and I enjoyed it until these dumb flags appeared! There were also flags in the Horizon 4 needle climb, but they did not interfere so much! It would be nice if you could turn them off on the whole map .
Cara Este is my fave drift zone and i agree the flags should be togglable. on start and end would be the only ok flags but rest is not needed. also that road is some what bugged. there is holes on some parts on the road that stops the score from counting when drifting over them. and its bit annoying when u get nice long drift and then there is spots on the road that dong give points, also it makes breaking my own drift score since some times those sections does give points and some times u hit the spots that dont give points
Yeah I completely agree with the drift zone flags, its a shame. As you say it disrupts the stunning scenery of arguably the best driving road in the game. I wouldn’t mind them being there if there was a 1/3 of the amount there is now, there’s just too many unfortunately. I hope they consider this, even if they don’t add an option to turn them off, If they just removed half of them It would be far nicer.
I really enjoy drifting, so I am fully for the drift zone being there, but the frequency of the flags really does create a disruption even when drifting. For now, I guess we have to just enjoy the road and the scenery behind those flags!

It’s stupid, and makes no sense. What, are you suddenly going to get lost in the middle of a drift? Nobody gets lost in speed zones, and they aren’t marked, so why are drift ones? You can bump and knock them over when doing multiple runs, anyways, and they aren’t showing you anything when they’re down. They’re pointless.
I don’t really care about a “scenic view”, because it’s just pixels, and you can knock them down if you want a screenshot, I just think they serve no purpose being every couple feet.
One more vote here to make it disappear or at least less in our faces. It’s a beautiful scenery and flags every couple of meters kinda ruin it. Either let us disable them or reduce them to the bare minimum (start finish)
I’m ashamed to say I never went there before the flags, so reading these comments I grieve for what I missed and totally agree with what you are saying.
Simple toggle on off would do the trick and keep everyone happy. Not just with drift zones, but all PR stunts.
Sometimes I want to drive a road without being blinded by a flash or have a fast Juno ruined by the slow motion and noise of a danger sign.
I think it would be neat if filtering on the map also filtered the game world. Only exception would be houses and festivals, they remain on the map. Everything else would just disappear unless filtered to appear in the map.
I 100% agree with this. Sometimes it’s nice to drive around without all the clutter. The mountain road is an obvious choice for various types of driving, not just drifting. If I’m running a grip car up there I don’t really want to be constantly reminded I’m not scoring points in the drift zone.
Agreed, i really wished i didnt unlock the PR-Stunt festival.
I mostly like to cruise around, enjoying the view. and now its ruined. Flags everywhere, speedzones. Just horrible.
I dont even like playing the game anymore to be honest, just because of this.
Cant really call it an “Open World Game” if its almost impossible to catch a break from speedzones, drift zones, speedcameras and all the visible stuff that goes with it.
problem solved! at least for me. I created a race without drivatars, just regular traffic. current time of day and season.
the code is: 134 735 280
just start the race and go where you want without any interference, just a clean map! you can even make your own. will it run even with friends in the convoy?
(sorry for google translate )
The problem is still there many months after, even though we get a clean map wile playing events like the Eliminator. Having to create a race is just a work around, and you can’t easily change car or play as normal. I tried not to unlock the PR festival after having my save corrupted (thanks “cloud saving” lol) but you cannot if you want to play the Festival playlist completely. A real shame this wasn’t implement from the start, for the players wanting to cruise around and enjoy the map with some RP.
Add another vote for a clean map toggle option, that’s the kind of QoL I’d expect to have been considered and built in from the start. Shame the devs haven’t seen and done this. Too worried about too much snow, not enough snow, is it even snow…
And kudos MadWorgen for the much deserved bump to this thread. I know I missed it first time around and suspect many more did too.
…watch it get moved to some dead mega-thread and buried like the Ark in the warehouse.
