I’m not sure which settings I’m using HDR-wise. I believe I turned the HDR and Dolby Vision off on my tv, which helped with the excessive brightness that I experienced in the first weeks or so of the game.
These videos show fairly well what I see when I play. It’s slightly less bright on my tv. I think the console capture settings are 1080p/SDR, but I could be wrong.
Wow! something ain’t right with that,my does not look like that at all. That looks like the contrast is cranked to 100.Is that on a tv or monitor?
Hmm. Would that be why it’s seemingly impossible to get neon/fluorescent colors? The lime green is about the only one that works. Orange and yellow are wack.
That doesn’t matter how the contrast is on the TV. It’s not recorded from the TV it’s recorded directly from the game. I use the Windows Gamebar to record things. I only have to press and hold down the button in the middle of my X-Box Series X Controller to record videos, if i press it shortly, it makes screenshots.
I play the game on a LG OLED B9 55 inch TV (2020).
I set it to 2160p, 120 HZ, G-Sync and V-Sync is active, HDR is active and i use full RGB and 10 bit color depth in the Nvidia Control Panel. In every other game it works right, including Forza Horizon 5.
What the original poster said is true, the whites are completely broken.
Mugello is SO much more fun to race in the dry in daylight than in the wet at night!
I play the game on an XSX on a 55" Phillips PUS7805 IPS TV (2020).
Game setting: Performance RT
Console settings:
(Everything in the game was quite washed out before I disallowed HDR10 and Dolby Vision on the console).
The thing is, nothing is washed out, there is oversaturation or something. They need to fix the contrast on PC. Especially if using Auto-HDR (Windows 11).
It looks really good on your X-Box i must say.
I want it to look great on PC too. With activated HDR.
HDR is broken like the OP said.
Update to this issue, update 5 has done something to game tonemapping to fix this clipped overbrightness handling. Now game displays more color shades in overbright situations that were earlier just clipped to max value.
This does not fix overbright parts totally but helps…
However, this dynamic tonemap brings new whole screen brightness pumping in some situations, here is link to that issue: Gameplay GFX tonemapping bug
Dolby vision on XSX doesn’t look like any of those vids, but it still looks a lil wonky at times.
It looks like update 6 has done little more about this oversaturated and/or clipped max brightess colors. Now it looks like more like FH5 which tend to push max bright colors towards white… which looks more natural.
Picture can look bit overbright but point is that max red is just not pure clipped red.
In gameplay IMO extreme colors look better than before…
I haven’t noticed a difference tbh, the whites are still extreme bright.
Yes, there is still clipping in white… and car colors bit too glowie in some cases, lets hope they continue tweaks…
All colors are clipping. Especially noticeable during night racing when cars a illuminated by your headlights. Some colors nearly look fluorescent.
