Offroad cars tipping/rolling over

Is there any way to fight the tipping/rolling over of offroad cars? Im tuning the jeep cj5 renegade in particular if that helps

try using heavier rims in theory i would think thatwould help … it helped me with the offroad bug i was having same issue hopefully this helps happy gaming

Always, always make the unsprung mass as light as possible. That means the rims.

After tearing my own hair out on this issue, i’ve made some tunes that Ive decided are quite drivable.

The problem with tipping over is, the harder the car is to control, the more time you spend correcting it after a jump, the more likley you are to be off line when you hit the next obstacle.
This means your #1 priority is getting the car into a state where you can bring it under control as quickly as possible so that bump is taken from a stable baseline, rather that building up a increasing degree of chaos that eventually tips the vehicle.

To this end:

  • minimise sprung and unsprung mass first. That weight reduction upgrade is the most important upgrade there is.
  • Then aero if you can afford it. Even down to A-Class front and back aero squeezing the car into the ground can help keep the wheels on the ground.
  • Suspension tuning is critical here, and it helps to actually learn the math behind it. Because the springs make the front and rear of the car act like harmonic oscillators you need to set spring constants that give you an acceptable oscillation period that is drivable, and set your bump and rebound damping to quash that oscillation as fast as possible.

In essence you want the springs setup as soft as you can go without the vehicle bottoming out, with the back setup about 10% higher than the front (adjusted for front%).

Then, while you usually want a relatively low damping on x-country and dirt - you want to raise it if you have a problem with flipping.
