Suspension issues

I am fairly new to tuning, only just starting to grasp what each option does. Definitely still trying to understand what’s best for each race type. I am currently tuning an A class '05 WRX for rallycross. I noticed that after a major jump, upon landing, my rear end will bounce back up. I have tried softening and stiffening all rear-end suspension options, and even slightly increased the ride height, but it’s still happening.

Side note: I could use tips on how to tune a rally diff!

I believe lowering the rear bump numbers will help easy the bounce.

Hmm symptoms could be caused by a number of factors. What tires are you using? At what pressure? What level of weight reduction did you do? What is your rear differential and anti-roll at.

I’ll stay away from the other suspension options since it seems like you’ve explored that fully.

Car bouncing up on landing has to do with ride height. Regardless of your suspension settings, a bottomed out car landing on its chassis will bounce up because your suspension isn’t able to be used to absorb the landing. The game register the chassis hitting the ground as a collision, and you get collision physics of hitting an unmovable object and repelling off it.

I noted this when I made an offroad drift Baja Bug for the weekly challenge. I didn’t raise back my ride height after doing the 500k challenge before doing the cross country events and the whole car would just bounce and fly into the air after jumping a ramp. After raising the ride height, the suspension would absorb all the impact and the car lands flatly and continue moving.

Increasing the rear shock rebound is how I usually start with this, with the assumption that you’re happy with how the car handles elsewhere. I start with small increases to confirm it’s helping and to know when to stop. It usually doesn’t take much.

If the car height is set low the landings can be unpredictable/harsh but it sounds like you have upped it a bit. You can always max the height to test whether it is affecting the landing.

Sway bars (anti roll) can come into play with uneven landing surfaces. In my experience when you notice the rear of the car kick opposite when one side hits a bump it’s usually stiff sway bars, possibly stiff springs. It’s up to you if you want the handling from the bars as is or to adjust for side to side compliance.

Why not just balance out the suspension…works perfectly for me.

I’m having the issue where after a big jump in the Urban Cross Country Circuit, my buggy stops when it lands, I’ll be full throttle, and the car just stops dead and spins the tires. I’ve tried letting off the throttle, and same thing, tried slowing for the jumps, and still same thing. Its actually costing me the race because of this bs
