Nostalgic Touring Car Series

Well first off sorry for the wall of text lol I have been taking notes in notepad this past month going back and forth with some friends about this series and this is the result. We wanted to make a series that was fast enough to keep you on your toes but still provides a cushion for newcomers that have never raced in a league before. The cars have been an absolute blast to test and drive in small packs online. From what we have tested no one car really has an advantage rather it be a 200 horsepower Cilo or a 350 horsepower M5, it really comes down to the driving style and setup of the car. I just recently got a new Elgato capture card and would really like to get enough interest in this series to stream the races on Twitch or record and edit the races to upload on Youtube. But anyway nothing is still set in stone yet and there is no official day for when this would all start but I would like to get a large group of people this weekend and run some fun races to get feedback and see how the cars handle with more people in the lobby with different builds to see if any cars need to be nerfed. Thanks for your time and feel free to add me on XBL nickrod808.

Specifications

The cars on the exterior will mimic those of the Group A era of touring cars. There have been some cars that have been added to this list that were not originally part of the Group A formula but add a nice bit of flavor to the mix. The cars have a horsepower limit of 400 and a PI limit of 595 and you must use the stock engine and drive train no exceptions and this will be strictly enforced . You will be required to run a race weight reduction as well as race springs and dampers, a full race roll cage, and a stock gearbox, everything else is fair game. The exterior must remain stock in appearance unless noted or if the manufacturer has an alternate option or the ability to remove the front bumper, hood, etc… The only part that you will not be able to change no matter what is the rear wing, you must run the stock setup and removal is not allowed. You will also need to display your number on both the left and right side of the car in a white box that separates itself from the livery. Period correct liverys are encouraged but not mandatory, you can also run any replica livery on the storefront that you like as long as it meets the prior rules. Below is the complete list of cars that are legal for competition as well as horsepower and lap times that I was able to accomplish at Watkins Glen Short with only upgrades applied and no further tuning. I built and ran the cars over the past couple weeks in my spare time focusing more on the handling upgrades rather than reaching the 400 horsepower limit just to see how the cars would do with base setups so take the numbers with a grain of salt because your cars and lap times may vary.

Qualifying will be the day before a race and will be F1 style in which everyone will be grouped into one lobby or in overflow lobbies as needed and have 10 minutes to run their fastest lap. The top 24 will now be locked in after Q1 and the last 6 of those in the top 24 will be in the race but dropped from Q2. Q2 will be another 10 minute session and after it is over 6 more drivers will be dropped and will not move on to Q3. Q3 is the final 15 minute qualifying session for the remaining 12 drivers and will ultimately decide the pole winner.

The race schedule has not been decided so feel free to suggest some tracks below. As for the format I think that doing a timed format will be the best way to go so going into the race you know for a fact that the race will be 30 minutes and you can set aside that amount of time and always know the race will finish the same time every week. As far as cautions and starting procedure goes I think it would be a good idea to wait and see what the NASCAR update brings before any rules can be made. Well if you have made it this far congratulations and I hope to see you on the track with us!

Bump for visibility, still hoping to get something going by next weekend.

To the top again, would really like to get cars on track to maybe test out some tire regulations.

Hi, I would be interested in joining, seems a good first league to start with. What timezone are you in, and time of race planned? I’m GMT. Looking forward to trialling some of these cars.

I am really interested in this count me in
