Nostalgia and the current state of the franchise (as a whole)

Well, all the nostalgia with the past Horizon titles are at least represented in the new Series, in terms of assets.
But sadly, I’ve thrown down my tie and burst into tears with the cars they got. Literally, all 4 cars are from FH4. No new FEs for cover cars. And that is it. They’ve clearly removed the cars that were present in FH4 just to pad the game into oblivion. And it’s obviously not a licensing issue, is it??

It’s obvious at any point that complacency is rife with Forza, both in Motorsport and in Horizon. Come on, PG, you’re better than this…

It isn’t just this franchise that had its soul torn apart. Other iconic franchises have had games that damaged their reputation, like GTA V (the game was good but its Online arm ruined it) as an example.

That little eight second scene in the TDU:SC trailer with the DJ in the club and the audience jumping in beat with the trailer music felt more like a Horizon game than the entirety of FH4 and 5 combined.

Heck, even the trailer music itself sounds like something straight out of Forza Horizon 1’s soundtrack.

Yeah, when you look at the history of the two games Forza Horizon is actually based on Test Drive Unlimited.

read the title

just like the movie franchise the game franchise keeps getting worse

the game used to be about cars now its just about making as much money as possible

4, 5 and 6 were the peak for F&F. 7 started a downturn, 8 was bad, 9 was really bad.

I can’t remember which one it was in but there was this hilarious scene where cars where driving down a runway at like 150+ mph for over 10 minutes. Like how long is this runway. I was nearly in tears.

Runway was 18.37 miles/29.6km in F&F6. Lol.
Jumped the shark in 5 dragging safe around I think.
Fiero in space ridiculous as was footbridge leap o’ death. Just like John wick needing 4-5 shots to the head.
But, sells tickets, suspension of disbelief.
Went back and played FH3 and 4 a bit today. Couple of my grinder favorite Goliaths.
2 always fun too. Never had 1.
Missed them need to revisit more. Drag strip in 3 was awesome, never liked it much until then. Need that back at airport.

I think that was 6 but the previous titles had less ridiculous exaggerations. 6 was the biggest downturn for me.

Edit: The safe in 5 was unbelievable but there was enough funny/entertaining parts of it that I accepted it. Probably the best use of a 4 door Charger imo.

It never actually occurred to me how accurate the comparison is between the two franchises. The older games/movies are dated, but they have more character and seemed to have more love put into them. The new games/movies are modern and flashier, but feel more (for the lack of a better word) producer-created and are fueled by overused memes.

Stole the bus screen from OG Italian Job, dialed up a bit. How no one get helmet hair in these movies amazes me

@Sfumato720 The street race in 4 was really well done to me, a little reminiscent of 1 and 2. 6 was definitely the last movie I said, okay my disbelief has reached the end. The part that really bothered me was him jumping across to grab Letty, smashes into a windshield but somehow isnt injured. He couldnt even fake it for a few seconds, @anonyyymous then the infamous runway scene happened. It just isnt the same without Paul, he was the true heart of the franchise. I never liked Dom.

Why are we talking about movies? I am pretty sure that’s off-topic.

Yeah seems off topic. The opening post is about nostalgia in Forza games Motorsport, and Horizon, and how things changed up until today.

@GreaseRodSucho cause i used the movies to compare to the game. if u scroll up a bit you will see what i mean

Yeah, i feel the same, when stupidy clothes are more important than cars, in a car game, that’s something really wrong with that game!! I feel the same with Gear 5! What a stupid games, FH4/5 and GOW5, when wokeness talks more than fun, that’s what happens!

I was playing a little ago and just seeing that intro from the first Horizon it was amazing, I can remember all the fun playing that game, finished at least 5 times choosing different cars, Horizon 2 which was fun with championship, a huge map and that FF’s story, Australia enjoyed too, but since “game as service” begun I just feel sadness, its a empty game to force play at least 1 hour for week. The only reason to keep playing FH5 is cause there are no others racing games with open world, even clothes became worse on FH5, every character seems odd, playlists which was a HUGE crappy it’s worse too, can’t bring nothing worth it, just recycled cars.
I always had a problem with FH4 cause that playlists, but playing it these days I noticed how better than FH5 it is and I don’t know they managed it, my guess is they don’t play their own game. Since launch, with all those problems, I was expecting fixes, expecting that they would care to us, I was seeing potential, but nothing, only “marked as solved”, this Anniversary was the same, it could be amazing, but it is only a lazy job to run another playlist. To be honest, I would be much more happier if they sale FH1 and FH2 and just add these new cars to them, would be the best job they can do, the direction the game is taking is completely wrong, and I don’t know, I just can’t see any hope to improve FH5.
