I get that the Horizon series is made for dumb casual racers who just want to hold down the trigger and use left stick but seriously, what made Forza different from Need For Speed is that it had some semblance of authenticity. Real cars, more realistic handling, deep tuning / customisation etc. And for those who actually care about that stuff it’s all buried away. I can accept starting with the defaults set to dumbass difficulty, with all assists, automatic etc. but the mandatory button mapping for useless things like ANNA really takes the mick. Now by default there is no button assigned to shift down because of the stupid “Activate”, whatever that does.
Also why are the default deadzones so bad? Might as well use d-pad to steer if you’re gonna take away 20% of the little input space there is on the left stick!
After the grindey snoozefest of Forza Horizon 3 it is very unlikely that I’ll ever get another Horizon game, but based on first impressions of the demo it seems that what little creativity and authenticity was left in this franchise has completely disappeared. I may be in the minority here but I seriously hate the whole “party” mentality of these games. I understand that the motorsport franchise is there to appeal to those who actually care about the racing but wouldn’t it be nice if we could get some of the variety of the Horizon games without all the baggage which, presumably, is there to appeal to kids?
