who thought that this level of illumination was appropriate?
if you want to go the “reailsm angle”:
yeah I know in some tracks illumination is bad (i.e. 24h nurburgring, absolutely haunting)
but eye adapts to darkness, you don’t see what camera see at night, eye are much more sensitive, especially when everything else around is dark. some camera view of night races are scary, but those are cameras, not eyes.
if you want the game angle:
it’s a terrible ergonomic having to squint to the artifical light of a lcd monitor for extended time. I don’t want to squint for 20 minutes at a monitor to play the game because pitch black looks good in the trailers. this screenshoot is already “brightenss 100”, and when I set that to max, day races looks extremely washed away, so it’s a constant back and forth.
What annoys me about night races in this game is the fact that they put light reflectors everywhere on each track, while in real world there are parts of the track that are pitch black.
Is the problem that it’s too bright? Because it looks pretty bright to me. Like, even if the car’s headlights were off I could probably see well enough to race.
istogram of the crop of the braking zone, there’s absolutely no detail here left, even iwth graphic gamma boosted to max, it covers barely gray level 0-25%
I can’t believe people are complaining about this? It looks absolutely stunning. Only gripe is the headlight beams casting weird shadows and textures in front of the car but other than that it is very, very immersive.
of course it’s a problem, no matter how stunning it looks, if you can’t see the corner coming how are you going to race? shall we all play with the racing line and track limits, just to have a sense of where the track is?
In that case, maybe they need to rework how the headlight beams to better illuminate the track and surroundings. About time they added a hi-beam option!
I noticed this too. I’m also having problems when the sun is low on the horizon and I get blinded so much I can barely see the corner. I can see this causing a few accidents if a few cars are trying to see a corner and other cars when the sun is low like this.
I have been on a track thankyouverymuch. racing car don’t have a transparent glass to begin with, if you want to talk about realism angle, besides, eyes don’t have lens flares.
Agreed! The brightness of the night in the new game ruins night racing. I remember in prior MotorSports games driving a track like LeMans at night was thrilling as it was PITCH black outside of your car’s headlights, which meant avoiding breaking them was crucial to survival. Now it’s about as dark as it would be at like 8pm, and has this weird bright haze to it.
Night racing especially after a storm with the fog is freaking amazing and about the only good thing about the game. Headlights could use some adjustment for sure but overall its pretty sweet. Sounds like yall complaining want night time to be daylight in which case yall should try the day mode. Also turn off that garbage ray tracing gimmick and the game looks much better. It also gets rid of the fake interior illumination at night.
At one point i thought thats what was being said but then it started sounding like they are complaining about it being too dark with some of talking about cranking the brightness up cause they claim they cant see the turns etc. I personally would be ok with it being alot darker at night.
