Newbie Help

So I’m very new to the game and I’m wondering if anyone can help me.

I’d like to set up my car so that it doesn’t slide all over the road and can actually have a good grip with almost zero drift. How do I make that happen in this game?

As a side note, I don’t know much about cars.

You should probably state which car (or cars) you would like to race. You will get a lot more help if the tuners know what car you are working with.

if you don’t know much about cars, there is no short answer for fh4 and nearly 700 different cars, seasons, weather, tons of different tracks, street/dirt/offraod, challanges and adventures you can do in the game.

its not possible to make cars not to slide at all…

for races its a question of balance the powerlevel and griplevel,

braking before the corner and find the right speed for the corner at the edge where the slide begin, no rapid movements on stick or wheel, try to be smooth, stay on the racing line, don’t accelerate to early on corner exit.

try different tunes, some are easier to drive and maybe slower, other tunes need more experience are maybe faster.

when tuning cars you can decide if you want more speed or more grip, depends on the class you tuning for, depends on the car itself and depends on the track you heading to, handling course or highspeed course… etc.pp.
you can download or make tunes to overtake in corners (more grip, less speed) or overtake on straights (less grip, more speed)
it is possible to write tons of tips about tuning the car, like longer gears = less slide but slower acceleration, etc.pp.

I would suggest you head to racing giudes, tuning guides, and guides how a car works. There is enough stuff all over the internet, also special guides for fh4.

its also possible to turn down the game difficultlevel and just drive very slow. you will be able to win for just some arcade action without getting very deep into cars and racing…

Good advice above. I think there is a short answer (kinda) for getting more grip and less sliding all over the road though.

More tire + more downforce - weight=more grip and less sliding.

However doing all that while keeping the car in the right PI range, keeping it balanced/competitive, and tuning it so its easy to drive at or near limit… we’ll that is a bit complicated and very much in the realm of long answer.

Start with a lower PI …
Ds are generally slow and are unlikely to slide anywhere unless you are very heavy handed (or in snow) … c still slow … B is faster still easy to control … etc
gradually work up to Hypercar X999 cars

I would recommend staying stock with tune until you get the hang of the car … then dip into it gradually … not go max on everything to find out the car now handles like a shopping trolley with smoke pouring out of the tyres and you can’t keep it on the road …

Too stiff ARB and they will slide easily…

then the ARB is unlikely to be too stiff -

This is very good advice!

The most important isn’t IMO tuning at first, to be frank I rarely tune and I play on Unbeatable difficulty. My win ratio vs. Unbeatable is somewhere around 80-90% I think. I do tune to seasonal events, like Trial and for S2 Hypercar events, especially if it’s rain or snow.

The most important thing is to get feel to game physics. It’s quite delicate for “simcade” kind of game, also very enjoyable once you get the hang of it. Once you are familiar with how game physics work and then when you try different kind of cars you learn their tricks more easily, learn to anticipate limits and it gets easier to move to higher class vehicles and tuning. This can be actually big help with tuning, as you understand more about what to tune to make faster car.

I would suggest using Braking line at first and doing Rivals Challenges with stock vehicle. There is great Road Racing circuit in Festival area, start by taking some D class stock hot hatch there. Or start something like '53 Corvette and then move to '70 Datsun 150 so you learn difference between toque engine and rev engine. Then get to something like '69 Nissan Fairlady Z 432 and then if you want to try tuning, get back to Datsun 150 or take '55 Chevy Utility Sedan, depending what kind of basis you want. It doesn’t matter that you don’t get to top positions in Rivals with stock vehicles, but you get to be fast with what you have.

Then in C-class you could try Nissan GT-S which isn’t that different to higher PI '90s GT-R’s and that’s one path to get from RWD to AWD. Or keep going with RWD’s there’s Ferrari Dino 246 GT which is mid-engine car, which have their own character, which is a path to more powerful Honda NSX’s all the way to Bugatti and other Hypercars.

What I usually do is go into tunes, and find a user tune with 5 stars, and they are usually pretty good. You can search for grip as well, but 5 star tunes are usually good.

I have the orange car that you can pick at the start of the game. It looks like an old muscle car.

I want the car to not slide at all if possible. If that can’t be done with that car, what car should I try to save up to get? Basically I don’t want to drift if I can help it.

To be clear… I don’t know anything about cars. Like… at all.

Really I just need someone to tell me what numbers to punch in where so that I stop sliding all over the road and spinning around.

I also don’t know what most of what the replies so far have meant. It’s like… you’re speaking in code.

Cars with AWD spin less than cars with RWD. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a good car that doesn’t spin much.

I just spent a bit messing with the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (pretty sure that’s the car you’re talking about). Here’s the easiest way I can think of for your to get the car driving how you want:

Go into customs upgrade in the garage, hit the view button, select “resets default upgrades”

The go back into custom upgrade and install the following; race brakes, race springs and dampers, race weight reduction, race tires, 275mm front tires, 345mm rear tires, fully upgraded rear track width. Optionally if you don’t mind the cost and want to try an engine swap you can instal the 6.2L V8 (it has comparable HP, but less torque and way light).

Once all that is installed go into the tuning menu. Go over to aero and slide them all the way right, it’ll say 220 and 441.

^this setup won’t be great for online races or rivals but it will have a lot more grip so less sliding, and should feel easier to drive.

So recently I have been building a lot of cars and it seems every car i upgrade drifts way to much, I just want to race a new car but I cant because every time I give throttle or turn slightly I start drifting. how do I fix this? i am somewhat new to Forza and I know pretty much nothing about tuning or anything please help.

If your not familiar with tuning I’d say it would be easier to search for a tune in what ever class. You can select grip / speed / drift tunes. It’s difficult to explain tuning on here as it’ll be a page or two long. If your on xbox and online tonight ( Friday 8th November ) I’ll be happy to show you the basics on tuning to get you going in a straight line. I’ll be on from around 19:30 til late.

Take a look

Johnson is an amazing driver, his tips could help you.

Good video, but the basic message is ignore common sense which I can’t do.
