Hi,
I recently bought my family an XboxOne Console and a copy of Forza 6. This is the first Xbox product we have owned, so I am new to XboxLive. I received an in game message (Forza 6) stating the following.
Turn 10 Community
Duration : 155h 55:14
Un-banned date : 01/12/16
Gamertag has been banned from this feature…etc.
There is no explanation as to why the Gamertag was deemed offensive.
I chose the Gamertag “WalkingDeadLive” as I am a big fan of the TV show The Walking Dead. The “Live” at the end is a reference to XboxLive.
I have since read the terms and conditions and code of conduct (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Legal/CodeOfConduct) and can’t figure out why the name is considered “offensive”.
There are only three possible reasons that I can theorize:-
-1- The word “Dead” is considered offensive, this is NOT mentioned in the code of conduct (unless it is considered violent).
In the context of this gamertag, the use of the word “Dead” is not directed at any group or individual in a threatening way.
Does this mean the gamertags “DeadBattery”, “DeadSilence” or “DeadRight” would also be considered offensive?
-2- I am considered to be infringing on a copyrighted property. My username is NOT “The Walking Dead”. I have seen plenty of gamertags referencing movies, TV shows
and popular culture. Why is mine the one that gets banned?
-3- It has been interpreted that I am somehow advertising a product. I can assure you I am just a big fan of the show and have no connection with AMC or the producers
of The Walking Dead.
Sorry for the long winded questions, it is just that I am new to XboxLive and Forza and I don’t want to be banned from the game. I honestly don’t think the gamertag is offensive and
would like to keep using it. Is there a way to be un-banned? I understand I will be un-banned automatically on 01/12/2016, but I can only assume I will get banned again if I don’t change the
gametag. An explanation of what section of the code of conduct I breached would be greatly appreciated so I can stop this from happening again.
Regards
Martin “WalkingDeadLive”
