New to the game

Just picked up Forza Horizon 2. I’m struggling with making good turns. I am often spinning out and fish tailing where I keep driving side to side. anyone have advice?

practice

Throttle and input control. Practice. Just drive a lot and get a feel for the cars.

Check out this thread for my tunes and see if you like any. I try to make them easy to drive.

I found that older worn out Xbox controllers make steering difficult. Just purchased a new controller yesterday and had much better control due to the spring in the steering stick being stiffer. Also switching the difficulty from “Easy” to “medium” makes a difference. The car responds quicker when you try to correct steering in near accident situations in the “Medium” difficulty setting.

I would suggest using custom difficulty settings.

If you’re feeling the car fight you for control, turn OFF steering assist and braking assist.
I also suggest leaving the drivings setting in normal, not simulation.

The rest is a preference thing, but I do suggest leaving ABS, Traction, and Stability on until you are more familiar with driving.

It’s just practise once you get the hang of it your be fine plus if you enjoy watching Forza videos check out mine I’ve been looking for feedback on it - YouTube

Upgrade tires and decrease power if that’s what you have more of.

Driving is like romance: a smooth operator will get results.

Favourite quote on this site because it is so damn true it hurts, lol!

I started playing at the end of November and I was bad! Never played any kind of console game before and I was horrible. But I am getting better and better and better through much play.

One thing I have found is I especially suck with any RWD cars. I have made everything (sans a couple FWD) all of my cars AWD. Every time I try a RWD just to see if I still suck with them I do

+1 for smoothness.

Smooth is fast.

Repeat it like a mantra as you drive.

Before a turn - roll off the throttle smoothly.

Come onto the brakes smoothly.

Come off the brakes smoothly.

Turn into the apex smoothly.

Come back onto the throttle smoothly.

The same goes for counter-inputs.

If you’ve come onto the throttle too early and start to get the back out, don’t suddenly release the throttle, roll it out just a little bit.

Another thing to tryis to start with slower / less powerful cars - things happen so quickly with the faster cars that being smooth can be quite challenging.

Once you’ve got the hang of being smooth, you’ll learn that there are conditions where you can break the rules, you may even need to. But while you’re struggling with control try to stay smooth.

Even those of us who have been at it for years will need to come back to first principles when dealing with difficult handling cars.
