New to PC gaming. Can I cross play with my cousin on xbox one from my PC?

I never really played games on PC. Manly just ATS and a few other single player games. However I wouldn’t mind getting Horizon 4 for the PC seeing I am buying a racing wheel soon. My question is can I play FH4 with my cousin who owns the game for xbox? I read it was cross play, but I wanted to make sure we could play together. And if I bought the game from the Microsoft store on my xbox one. Can I just download and play on my PC or do I need to buy it again? I has to sell my Xbox because of the virus, Lost my job and was in need. Now I really miss Forza.

Also any recommendations on a good racing wheel I’m all ears. I’d love to find one that works with Xbox One, PC and PS4. But probably not likely. I’d like to stay under $400. (not including the stand)

Yes, the game doesn’t separate Xbox and PC players in any way.

If you have a “play anywhere” digital copy, yes, you can install that on PC.

If you get a wheel that works with PC, you can use it with PS4 or Xbox using a Drive Hub. Most cheaper wheels will natively support one of PS4 or Xbox, so get one that matches whichever of those is more important to you right now, and only buy a Drive Hub if you need to use it with the other console in the future. The most popular budget choice is the Logitech G920 or G29 depending on whether you want native Xbox or PS4 support (both support PC). You might want to do more research on specific issues, the biggest problem I see with them is not being able to set the wheel rotation range for some games on some platforms, for example I believe if you play GT Sport on PS4 with one of those wheels you will be stuck with a large rotation range. I’m not aware of anything within your budget that solves this problem, though. Thrustmaster lets you change the range but it’s a huge PITA because you have to keep setting it again all the time, it resets to the default every time you go out onto the track or something like that.

Short answer: yes!

Long answer: yes, and your save works on both Xbox One and PC, should you wish to run both platforms for some reason. Xbox Live account is universal. For the wheels I second breeminator’s advice, when it comes to Forza I don’t see any reason to go beyond Logitech. However, notice the G27 is the same wheel and will work on PC (but NOT the Xbox One/PS4), although I think Logitech no longer sells it.

Thanks for the replies. My new PC gets here tomorrow. How does online work? When I fire up Horizon 4, will my friends list just appear? Can I just invite my friend to a session like you normally would? What about chat? Can we do a party or is it in game chat only? If it doesn’t work very similar to how it would as if we both were on xbox, I might skip getting it and wait for next gen.

Windows has a console app. As long as you’re logged into Windows 10 with the same email/profile that you use for Xbox, your PC will just be another device connected to Xbox Live. You open the console app and you will see all your friends and stats just like you see on your Xbox. All cross platform games like Gears, Forza 7, Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves etc. will share the same save so you can play on any platform. Be aware that if you only want to buy a game once and play on both platforms, you have to buy it digitally off of the Windows Store on your PC. This will give you the right to install on your PC and Xbox. Discs are only for Xbox and I think buying digitally on Xbox might not give you the right to install on PC (not sure though. I always buy on the Windows Store). When you’re in game, it’s just like being on your Xbox with other players. Most of the people I’m playing with are on Xbox. It’s the best of both worlds. You can be on Xbox Live but have way better frame rates and graphics (depending on your system). The extreme settings on PC for Horizon 4 for the world detail are worth it alone in my opinion. Even the One X doesn’t run at the settings I can and I don’t have a top of the line system. I think the One X settings are 1080p at 60fps using high-ultra settings and I can get 60-80fps at 1080p-1440p with 8x aa and completely maxed out ultra-extreme settings.

That’s slightly wrong and might be confusing to some. If someone owns the game digitally it doesn’t matter if they bought it on Xbox or PC. You can buy it on either platform and it will work on the other.
