New BMW GT not working in GT series hopper?

Is anyone else having this problem?

The GT hopper is restricted to Body Family = GT Racing. The BMW M3 Racing Car has a body family of German Touring Cars.

That’s still a GT in my book.

Well can the GT cars run in the German Touring Car Series in real life and vice versa?

Well that sucks… I wish I would have known that before buying the car!

It was always going to happen, it doesn’t fit into the GT rule as they have it and the Hopper would have had to have been updated to allow it, this is the only Hopper I really frequent now so yet another reason not to buy the pack …

wow, that means it can only be used in the general R-class hopper where it wont be competitive at all. Guess we will have to wait until T10 release the remaining DTM cars (if ever) and set up a dedicated hopper before we can use it online (or do closed lobby BMW only races). that’s disappointing…

I just raced it in R-Class and won, and I’m not particularly good. It may not have the top speed, but it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket!

What were you up against in the lobby ? The #007 Aston also hasnt got much grunt but sticks great ?

I can’t really remember now. It was on Bernese Alps and you can pretty much go flat out. I started in second and passed a La Ferrari and led from there. I may have gotten lucky. If you can get away at the start and everyone is doing similar lap times it’s hard to catch up. Stat wise, it’s almost identical to the DBR9.

Ok thanks, thats encouraging. I didnt have a chance to drive it yet but i would have expected that its being handicapped when racing against other R-class cars due to all these touring car restrictions. Glad to hear its competitive.

But just watched a video of it in FM5, the engine and shifting sounds are not even close to the characteristic sound of a DTM BMW, the real car sounds much “dirtier” with lots of pops and backfires when shifting. I have the feeling they recycled the BMW GT2 sounds for this one, hope i’m wrong.

Anyways, looking forward to drive this beast tonight.

Why wont it be competitive in R class?

Why did you not check before buying the car?

It’s obvious enough to me, DTM is closer to super gt than it is to GTE, if you put these cars together the M3 would kill the class on a track like Laguna .

Besides, there’s already an M3 in the GT class.

meh…such a bummer…

It’s a DTM car, GT racing is your LeMans GT3 cars etc.

GT =/= DTM

I was surprised when I was able to use the new BMW DTM in the Career GT Race Car series. You would think that it should be allowed in the GT hopper but I guess they forgot to update that restriction.

Hopefully they will update it. It would be nice to have that extra car there. I just love variety. I mean what could it hurt being in there!

Although I would agree it would only work if they change the name to GT and DTM hopper, My guess is that the car will get its own hopper next month along with more DTM’s in a supportive pack

No one got an answer as to why the DTM car would not be competitive in R class?
