I am a fh5 player on the level of 195 and I need to improve my driving skills because currently I can’t complete a single race without rewinding atleast once or without crashing but my drivatar doesn’t goes below pro and generally I play one unbeatable. And in circuit I really socks that why I don’t even like to play circuits. So I am asking for some tips for that.
The AI is at its worst when playing on the Pro and Unbeatable difficulties. It cheats a lot. I’ve been playing driving/racing games since the age of three, yet I only play on Highly Skilled and Expert difficulties because, while I like a challenge, I can only tolerate being gaslit by the AI so much before I crack and stop having fun. Trust me when I say this, there’s no shame in playing the lower difficulties. That will help you a lot.
As for driving, circuits are honestly the easiest to get right because you drive the same course multiple times, learning more about it and how to handle each corner better with every lap. My only advice here is just keep driving, you’ll get better.
As for the Rewind feature, it exists for a reason. It’s admittedly a bit of a crutch (and ironically, not the perfect execution of the concept as Race Driver GRID and Dirt 2 did it better), but I use it all the time, because restarting a race after a small mistake is one of the most annoying experiences ever with a racing game. I’m currently replaying Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2 where a single race can last up to ten minutes, and boy howdy, are there times I wish I had rewind button. If you really don’t want to use it though, you can always switch off Rewind in the difficulty adjustment menu. Not having Rewind available may incentivize you drive even better than before.
I would not play on unbeatable, I would play something below that or below pro, because the current state of the AI Drivatar’s is just annoying.
Try tuning the car don’t worry about the outcome adjust the setup until the car feels right for you some cars prefer stiffer suspension and other cars prefer soft suspension this also includes ride height also don’t use the slick race tyre that tyre is poorly implemented use the race tyre compound they both have the same amount of g force. the added grip is artificially added with the slick tyre compound if you do install the race tyre adjust the differential it can increase or decrease the cars turn ability try acceleration between 70% and 20% & the de acceleration between 5% & 35%. Practicing will improve your cognitive ability input & eye coordination. caffeine can also increase those abilities recommended no more than 400g a day for adults. Also YouTube might be helpful to
Personally speaking everyone is different - I feel like I however have gotten better by just fudgin’ around with only a few cars with different drivetrain types and just mess with them and the tune I put on them to understand the cars behavior and response to what I do.
Once you start to understand the natural tendencies of the cars and their drivetrain type you can start to predict what the car will do, you dont need to have the fastest car to be good at controlling your car.
I honestly feel like I have more fun tuning non-meta cars than anything else and trying to run them against the metas - find something personally competitive and run with that metric just for fun, everything else follows.
Fun, first and foremost. Never forget that.
Actually @Runoff1999 I feel that your opinion may work best for me and I have few cars that i can handle so perfectly i.e, (BMW m5, BMW m8 competition coupe, BMW x5 FE, Ferrari FXX-K evo, lamborgini sesto elemento fe, ferrari sian roadster) which i uses most of the time in almost all the races. As a responsible Forza Horizon Community member i will say Thanks to all.
