Need Help - Forza 6 Multiplayer not working "failed to start multiplayer"

Dear Support,

I purchased Forza 6 on launch day from the XBOX One dashboard and still as of today I cannot get into multiplayer?

The error I always have gotten since launch is “failed to start multiplayer” “Multiplayer is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”

EDIT/Update: I found a solution to my issue as noted in this article

I’ve played hundreds of hours online on my XBOX One without issue, and can even now jump into multiplayer games of Destiny, Halo, Titanfall all without issue.

What is the next step? I’m suppose to be racing with my friends tomorrow night and find it hard to believe several days after launch the game is not fixed? This has never happened to me in any previous Forza game (I have them all)

PLEASE advise!

My Detailed network info is below:

Download Speed: 35.31mbps
Upload speed: 5.99mbps
Packet loss 1%
MTU 1480
Latency: 104ms

Many thanks in advance,

Grey

Lost over an hour running through troubleshooting with XBOX support.

  • They had me Unplug console, wait two minutes, plug it back it = same error
  • Unplug Router/Cable modem, wait two minutes, plug them back in = same error
  • Lastly I’m to uninstall and reinstall, hate having to re-download 45gb but I’ll give it a try!

You know, I really love Forza games - have them all - but I’ve already missed two scheduled Forza 6 multiplayer matches with my friends so if XBOX or Forza support can’t resolve this I’m going to ask for a refund and move on to a game that will get me online… which is a bummer as I was totally stocked about Forza 6 :frowning:

But with so many good games out there and so little time, how long can you really just sit on the sidelines?

So if you’re listening - any help fixing the MP of the game would be much appreciated Turn 10, as so far I’ve spent more hours trying to connect than driving :frowning:

Yes please! Brought my Xbox one just for this game and I can’t even use it for multiplayer!

When I try to join a lobby I get the same error message: “Failed to get match server list”

why such a big first party dev has a so poor support? nothing against the writers here. there doing a great job to hold the the page up to date. but in my eyes turn 10 need a guy for support and only for this. someone who is part of the dev team. so that the issues comes without filtering to the the dev team. when people reporting here issues and get a week or more no response is no good PR for microsoft and xbox. not only for turn 10.

Hey guys. Im not really big into online posting but I was having the same problem for weeks and I thought i was stuck forever from playing this game. I think I have found the issues and it lies within the DNS that can be manually fixed just by going into the settings. I am no techy nerd and my router is balls but i figured id post this. I kept getting this same message and from other online message boards, i was noticing alot more people were getting the same thing. I hope this helps all my fellow forza racers.

Go on your xbox:
1- go to setting
2- go to network
3- advanced settings
4- DNS
5- Primary DNS, type in 8,8,8,8
6- for secondary DNS, type in 8,8,4,4
7- let your box situate itself and reload Forza. Hope it works for all you guys!.

Update!

As I mentioned above, enabling IPsec in my router allows me to join MP lobbies and races… but now I get disconnected 20 seconds after the race starts :frowning:

I also want to totally agree with the Very Poor Support comments - from searching the web Many Of The Same Issues existed in Forza 5.

Thank you very much Maximus! I will give this a shot!

If it doesn’t work I’m returning the game - this has been the worse XBOX ONE Game experience I’ve had so far.

I did that but she won’t budge for nothing. Turn 10 needs to fix this not our problem.

nothing works for me, MS and turn 10 cannot solve it for me either! what region is everyone playing in?

you’re not alone, I’m sick of this problem! I’ve tried lots of things, even reset my xbox to factory settings. Used ethernet and wireless.

It really sucks that Turn10 & Microsoft don’t care about the problem.

I am also having the problem… logging into Multiplayer…

it worked well up till two days ago…

now I get the “server not available” message - error trying to log into Multiplayer message…

I changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - as suggested…

When I run a network test it shows “everything Ok…”…

I can log into Forza Hub, see my achievements, do everything online except

play multiplayer, Leagues, all the online stuff not available…

Tips for solutions to this problem wold be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Jeff

I also rebooted system a few times… unplugged power, rebooted again… no success logging into multiplayer…
