My online experience of this game is totally different to one potrayed in this forum

Regardless, the multiplayer is categorically worse than FH3, and we need to make that heard

Thank you for posting this!!

Do you think FH4 multiplayer is fine?

People aren’t stupid, they’ll see that FH4 online is vastly inferior to FH3 online and won’t be happy with that.

This.

All of this.

There are less than a thousand active posters on the forums at any given time and millions will play the game. Of active posters, a sizable percentage are focused on motorsport or older titles. If we conservatively estimate that this title sells 2,500,000 copies and that active forum users focused on this title total 500, that would be 2% of 1% of the player base posting on these forums. Even if 100% of the active forum body could ever agree on anything, it would still be statistically irrelevant and in no way cover even the margin of polling error.

Everyone seems to think their view represents the majority and they couldn’t be more wrong. The vast majority of players never post a thing here, never visit here and could not possibly care less about what is posted here. As a result, we’ll never know what it is they think about any particular issue. Turn 10 and Playground Game though do know because they’ve spent years collecting data on how people play their games and structure, where possible, their games accordingly.

Turn10 and pg have collect data for years and yet still they can screw it up. They have say that class base rivals is one of fan favorities in forza series but still it’s wasnt part of fm7 until long after launch when they finally add it for fm7 and still they made same mistake again in fh4. And in online playing i wonder how is possible they have that kinda data that team race is only what we want. I think they have just watch to data that team base games are popular now so we have to make team game also but while doing that they forgot motor racing is not team sport. Most peoples dont never write on forums, but do you think when devs are reading forum and if everybody here agree somethink is mess up that devs will think, oh it’s just 0.1% players that’s totally irrelevant then.

Well, I can only speak for myself: Having completed the 10 qualifier races for team adventure over the course of seven days because the game decided to ban me and remove me and not start searching and players not confirming … I can say for sure that I won’t be playing one more match in this mode until it is in a playable state. It’s not even worth it, you get 30k CR and 32k influence from half an hour of online ramming. You get double that in single player races.

To win the races in FH4 it is easiest if one player just blocks the opposing team at the start. Starting to see a lot of first corner mayhem because of that. But I think the worst offenses of a game that is pretending to be all about multiplayer sre that if you want to play with a friend they have to finish the prologue before you can play together and that only team based multiplayer exists. Team races were the luck based parts of online adventure in FH3 and now it’s the only thing. And you have to do 50 races before you even get a rank.

Without free-roam rush RWD and FWD would at least be competitive in road races. In the current state of online they are once again useless.
A shame because AWD gives me nothing. Too easy, too boring and a complete lack of character.

[Mod Edit - Hieronymus (Maybe a little less name-calling in the future, okay?)]

Current multiplayer situation is a steaming terd, but the single player is soooooooo good it almost doesn’t bother me, they just need to fix rivals already, i’m really angry at the situation. Specific rivals events are great for seasonal/monthly challenges, but to limit the whole system is hot garbage.

I’ve not put a great deal of time into m/p but what I have played seems ok. The only real noticeable downside was on more than a few occasions the loading time seemed just as long as the race time so it did spoil the continuity between events quite a bit. The other disappointment for me was rivals and the fixed car structure of each event - something that seems to completely remove the need for any kind of class/upgrade/tune system. Another thing that concerns me with rivals is that if these events are linked with the weekly seasonal transitions and summer is realistically the only time you’ll be guaranteed optimum racing conditions then rivals is only good for one week every four. If this is the case then having to wait through snowy and rainy seasons just to be leaderboard competitive might not be such a well thought out idea.

Nice to see the senior mod of this forum making giant blanket statements that the views and opinions of the longtime fans who post here are irrelevant, good job buddy

Statistically irrelevant when the unsupported claim is made that any particular view or opinion held is somehow a majority.

Context matters.

I just think it’s funny that a senior mod is seeminly trying to defend something which is quite clearly wrong with the game.

Please forgive me, I’m getting older and my memory isn’t what it used to be I’m afraid. Could you help me out by illustrating where precisely I defended, or even for that matter commented upon one way or the other, the current state of multiplayer in FH4?

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide with regards this issue.

Holy mother of condescending!

No one in their right mind would be up in arms about someone making an assumption about the majority of players, if they weren’t on the side of defending the said issue.

From experience, the only time mods start getting involved in arguments, is when they clearly have an agenda in the matter.

Mods are members of the community too, are they not supposed to have their own opinions?

He’s not trying to defend it at all, he is merely pointing out that forums are nowhere near the majority of the playerbase.

They aren’t, Stang, but the majority of the playerbase in any game are the type of people whom you could serve a turd on a plate to and they’d be happy either way as long as it looked pretty.

Now, I definitely believe much of the criticism towards the game is unjustified. There are many areas of the game which have seen major improvements. Small quality of life improvements like being able to freely change cars on the fly at no cost are awesome indeed. Not as fast as The Crew 2, but it doesn’t have to be, as we don’t have planes nor boats here. There are many other things made better in FH4 but that’s not the point.

There’s still a lot to improve. The game is young and in three months from now it’ll probably be at the level people expect, but there are other things wrong with it that won’t get addressed because the devs think they know best and it’s sad to see mods waving the same flag, dismissing valid complaints as whining. Perhaps the commercial success of the game has made some people think they’re untouchable. You guys got 92 on Metacritic, not 100.

In the FM7 forum, the quality of posting isn’t much different, but the mods act more civil, which is best for everyone. I find that Dragnet going on a locking spree to prevent issues from escalating works better than Hieronymus coming into threads and making snide remarks against people who post complaints, especially when I’ve seen this situation happen in other forums (Project CARS for example) and it never ends well.
