I agree that the music is terrible in Horizon 5. I have always left it on, and always thought it was pretty good. Playing Horizon 5, it’s the first time I’ve turned the radio off a lot of the time. Even my wife commented, " what is that crap, can you turn just the music off?" She was in the room while I was playing earlier, and the terrible music was driving her nuts.
I feel sort of this way about Pulse. The only songs that I truly like on Pulse are the ones by Porter Robinson, PRXZM, Hot Chip, OTR, and Saint Motel. I was surprised and sad that CHVRCHES didn’t make it into Horizon this time since they were in the last three games (Loved hearing Bury It and Clearest Blue in FH3 and I heard The Mother We Share while playing the terrible 360 version of FH2). I was also hoping for other artists like Cut Copy to return (I had their song Like Breaking Glass on my wishlist) and same thing with Roosevelt (My Song Picks: Feels Right, Strangers), and hoping for other artists like Cannons (Fire for You), Jai Wolf (Moon Rider feat. Wrabel), and Purity Ring (stardew) for example.
It’s not only XS. The other stations are waaay worse than in FH4 too.
I wish there was an option to tell the game “I freaking hate this song, please please PLEASE don’t ever play it again”.
Or even better, pick and choose the few good songs from all the Horizon stations, save them as a playlist, and then have Amy Simpson play only those instead. Deal? ![]()
Really? I have noticed they sound different, but I wouldn’t dare call it better. Some of the cars sound like a lawnmower, specially if you’ve gone offroad and are stuck in low revs.
It seemed to me like there were fewer stations, and I haven’t much liked any of them. I’d totally go for a mariachi station. Especially if it was all covers of rock/metal.
The censorship they have on the song lyrics which leads half the songs just being blanked out feels like an insult.
What kind of ministry of truth and feelings thinks it’s appropriate to mute half the soundtrack? I really thought that was only a mistake of Horizon4 but seems it runs in the family.
I guess it’s to keep it’s rating down perhaps? It’s rated PEGI 3 in the UK. The only upside for me this time is the only song I know well enough to recognize where words are blanked is Beastie Boys Intergalactic and even then it’s a remix so it might just be be how it is.
We have a vinyl editor that uses shapes to avoid copyright infringement, it would be good to have a similar music editor to share music. But to avoid copyright infringements they would have to have some sort of complication. Probably have samples that can be manipulated.
No song titles are displayed to me and it is also not possible to change the radio station.
I’ve tried the keyboard and controller.
The correct key assignment has been checked.
Does anyone else have the problem?
I mostly listen to horizon xs, there is a lot of great rock but occasionally this rancid repetitive EDM number called freak appears on the rock channel, could only be a bug since no one could consider that song rock and it would be much more suited to one of the multiple EDM based stations
There is literally no rock elements in that song and I don’t know how it found its way onto the rock station along side the foo fighters and bring me the horizon
Want to buy Metrik - Techtonik LOL
not on spotify, not on youtube, pretty much unavailable to listen online, even in game…
were other games censored? i know horizon 3 had DMX, but i forget if that song was censored
on the rap station…wow, when the likes of tech n9ne exists or billions of other rappers…we dont have anything worth listening to on that, rock and rap are my 2 favourite genres and wow its just nothing apart from bring me the horizon
Yeah On FH3 “Bored To Death - Blink-182” was really badly butchered, that’s the main one I can remember right now. There were a few on the Epitaph/Vagrant stations that were also cut.
A dedicated Rap station is missing I agree, I wouldn’t describe myself as a rap fan but it’s surprising what I would find a good song to drive to that I probably wouldn’t normally listen to.
I used Groove Music on FH3. Used to really enjoy a long race cranking Race with the Devil on Spanish Highway by Al Dimeloa. Wish they would bring something like that back.
I have noticed two issues with the music in this game.
The first is an issue that has been in the Horizon series since Horizon 3, and it is that when racing the current song will just loop endlessly and it kind of ruins the music experience, I remember this not being an issue in Horizon and Horizon 2.
My second issue is that the music is too censored, don’t get me wrong I do understand that are a lot of words that can’t be said, but why are words like “God” and “bar” censored, wouldn’t the radio edits of these be enough, but, what is the point of putting these songs in the game if you’re just going to over censor half of it.
Just to end this on a positive note, thank you for making this game, I have been loving my experience with Forza Horizon 5
Hi folks,
anyone else thinks it’s pretty poor, that there is still no local radio station in FH5? We only get the same radios that have been there since at least FH3, that each play about 10 ameri-global pop songs which sound quite undistinguishable (except for the classic station, but that hasn’t got more tracks either)…
I want an Australian Music station in FH3, with a heavy-slanged Aussie doing the comments. I want a Britpop station in FH4, with a barely understandable Scotsman on the mic. And in FH5 I want a station that plays traditional Mexican music like on the start screen, with a hectically speaking host that speaks more Spanish than English.
A local station could really help with the theme and with presenting the host country’s culture to the player. But as it is the music only contributes to the omnipresent feeling of playing the same game over and over, just with a new map… At least to me…
They actually discussed this in one of the video chats they did prior to launch. There was, in fact, a “Mexican” radio station in an early build, but they removed it because (and quite rightly) it would be really bloody stupid to have a radio station that only played “Mexican” music. In Mexico. Because most people don’t just listen to one type of music, from one country. Sure, niche things like that exist, but Mexican people don’t only listen to Mexican music, anymore than an Englishman (such as myself) would only listen to “English” music by English artists.
A custom radio station would solve this. I’m always disappointed when racing games don’t have this option. FH 3 (the only perfect racing game) had it ,only for it to be removed later. Such a cruel world we live in.
Sure Mexican people don’t only listen to Mexican music. In Germany most people listen to lame ameri-global pop music too, on a few big “Hit Radio Whatever” stations - however even those play their share of modern German pop music as well. And if you want to go traditional there are lots of stations for that here too.
Yet in FH I am a virtual tourist in another country, so I’d like to at least have the option of listening to cliche-touristy music.
If a builtin station isn’t an option, then maybe a user-selectable custom station would do? I’m thinking of a simple Shoutcast or Tune.in browser in the options, where you can choose a single station to be mapped a radio slot - obviously without the game DJ then.
Probably a local DLNA client that just streams a fixed name playlist would do. And even the old FH3 groove implementation would be better than having the radio set to “off” because you’ve had enough of those same few tracks repeated over and over…
Why this song “Camo & Krooked - Nocturna” aren’t in hospital records? It’s in the game but is should be in the radio.
