I love people complaining about one band being left out of the lineup. Five editions in and the music has always been straight garbage for hard rock fans. The Foos and Greta Van Fleet are ok, but as usual, fans of hard rock and metal once again get the shaft when it comes to the soundtrack. The closest we ever had was Epitaph in FH3, but that was more punk than metal.
I know big names like Metallica and Iron Maiden might be cost prohibitive for licensing, but PG could have made a deal with Roadrunner or Metal Blade like they have with Hospital (and had with Epitaph) Records so those who like it might get something heavy, something I’d actually want to listen to on the soundtrack while driving. Instead, we get the same old boots-and-pants EDM and rap in the game. I literally laughed out loud when Mike from PG claimed how “diverse” this edition’s playlist was during the final “Let’s Go” stream when it’s just a rehash of the same old same old.
Guess I’ll be using Eterna for skill songs and listening to my own iTunes playlist the rest of the time, just like I have been with this series since 2012.
That’s the price people pay for not stepping out of their comfort zone and potentially finding good music elsewhere. Before you say anything: I still listen to a lot of metal (mainly finnish metal: Insomnium, Horna, Beast in Black…)
In general it seems the radio in Forza has become less and less diverse over time, it almost feels like Pulse, Bass and Block Party are all the same station right now.
Like my other posts said - just give us decent music based on the station, or let us use our own music.
I only use the so-called Rock stations and a bit of classical here and there.
The Rock station has virtually Nothing on it that I would class as rock though that’s also true of FH4.
Forza Horizon 2 and 3 had music stations based on real-world record stations and, excluding Hospital, completely dropped off the face of the game in Forza Horizon 4, and now that the soundtrack has been revealed, they’re not returning in Horizon 5 either. Why did they go missing? Majority of my favorite songs in the franchise come from those stations, and it adds more variety and size to the soundtrack.
Yes, I did and I even responded to it as did a lot of other people with the same thoughts.
Licensing isn’t done per manufacturer, it’s done per car and even then it may still come back and as was pointed out, every other Pontiac is not returning.
They can’t just put the record label in the game, it doesn’t work that way. The label wasn’t licensed, period.
This is just another Novaly whine thread because things didn’t go your way.
not really feeling the soundtrack on pulse radio this time
some glorious and toe tapping numbers on horizon 4.
i always look forward to hearing some new tunes with amy simpson.
this selection in horizon 5 is pretty miserable imo
Not only is the tracklist small (recognized every song within 3-4 hours of play) but HALF OF THE TRACKLIST IS LITERALLY POP MUSIC. WHAT HAPPENED HERE?
Now the actual songs that BELONG in the station are good. Foo Fighters, Melted Brains, Plague Vendor… but seriously, a ton of the songs AREN’T even REMOTELY rock. That “Karma The Knife” track is the most ear grating garbage I’ve ever heard. It’s beyond personal taste- it genuinely sounds awful. Considering that track was only in the game because XS’s radio DJ made it, I checked out her Spotify… and it’s literally pop music. On her personal bio on the site, she literally describes herself as a POP ARTIST. Yeah, that’s great, putting a pop artist as the radio DJ for a ROCK STATION.
The tracks by Sofi Turkker, The Blah Blahs, Arkell and Angelica Garcia aren’t rock music and the fact those are taking up space in an already extremely small tracklist is infuriating. Just knowing these artists secured a spot in XS before Death From Above 1979, Liily, Greenleaf, or Citizen Soldier is so plainly EVIDENT there’s no music curators that actually listen to rock music making these. Quite literally ALL of the artists I’ve listed need to be resorted into Horizon Pulse. I’m always cautious to give myself proper credit especially in the face of “certified people” but I’m am confidently saying MY FAN MADE SOUNDTRACK BLOWS THIS OUT OF THE WATER, AND IT’S NOT EVEN CLOSE. I heard rumors say the game’s soundtrack is going to be supported post-launch, and I hope that’s true and that they don’t mess the soundtrack up further. Or just simply, add custom music integration! Everyone’s been asking for it and Playground VICIOUSLY ignores it whenever they hear a proper request. Not only do I not have to listen to ear-grating pop music on what is advertised as a rock station, the game’s soundtrack will NEVER go stale as I can put ANY songs I want in it. That’s literally a one-time permanent solution to this all. IDC how it’s done, make it a Spotify Premium feature so the original soundtrack still has use even.
Spotify (here’s a link to that by the way, i doubt you will but unironically hit me up soundtrack curating is a hobby of mine)
TL:DR rock illiterate music creators ruining an already painfully small rock station with literal pop music, stop pls
Still it is sacrilege to listen to the radio in such a game, especially when the dev have finally listened to the community asking for better engine sound!
They might put more effort in next time. I’d say its the weakest tracklist they’ve had so far. Nothing really stands out as real banger track you would want to drive to.
i agree about the miserable selection of music this time around
i dont really listen to rock, but the pulse radio station is also pretty dire compared to previous horizon games.
they wont do anything though.
i wish that we could inject our own tracks into the game to replace the ones there.
yes, you can use spotify or something to play instead, but then you dont get the radio dj commenting on things or skill songs
All of the stations seem to have music that makes me want to turn the radio off. I end up listening to the classical music station most of the time. Everything else is just too “pop” for me.
The original xbox had a feature where you could copy songs to playlists on your system and replace game soundtracks with your own music. Why did they get rid of that? Games like Horizon are begging for this feature to be brought back.
