Just wondering, how many players on xbox in general, have multiple profiles. For the purposes of testing, playing with friends, or just whatever?
And how skewed is that 20 million players number? Is it more like 15 million, 10 million, or maybe even 8 million? How can they actually know the true number of players?
Just a curious question… food for thought.
Is one gamepass owner considered one player regardless of number of profiles on their xbox?
Is one xbox considered one player regardless of the number of profiles on the xbox?
A very loose way of estimating the number of players that have dabbled with this game over say the last month is to look at how many times are posted on Hot Wheels rivals boards. Then multiple this by say 1.2.
This won’t tell you the number of active players but it sure would be a more meaningful number then the marketing speech of “20 billion million”.
I would guess that the number of active players is possibly 1/10th of the value above. Again this is a very loose estimate.
I also know you don’t have the HW expansion lol so GL.
From what I’ve seen, this is a pretty common tactic for those who want to list their designs, etc & ensure they are selected for the daily “featured” page. You will notice the same usual suspects designs on the most popular weekly cars will always show up when the page refreshes with this coincidental exact same number of downloads & likes, which is what determines who’s design remains on the page for the 24hr period.
Which is also why it’s so hard to find new good eventlabs because the most popular ones shown are always the stupid smash 10 pinates.

It’s an interesting question. I think if you want to know how many people actually actively play the game you need to look at the achievement metrics. And from there it doesn’t look like the “activity” figure is any where near 20 million.
Conversely, I found sales figures from January 2021 and the xbox one sold 50 million units to the PS4’s 115 million units. Wonder where the Series X/S v PS5 will fall?
GT 6 has sold 13.6 million copies.
Best I can find is Forza 7 sold 1.5 million copies.
Can’t find sales figures for FH5 but they would be pointless due to cloud and gamepass play.
Estimates put nfs heat at between 3 to 4 million copies. But that’s across all platforms.
I don’t know why I’m doing this, bored I guess. Maybe I need to work on some track building.
Says avg of seven days. Is that the avg number of players that played over the total seven day span? That’s how I read it. Which means it’s probably multiplied by players playing consecutive days. That is, if one player plays each day for seven days in a row it counts as seven plays.
Just that we don’t really know how their metrics measure plays.
And if a player plays a game session in the morning then again in the evening, does it count as two plays?
I think I’m only one person and have only had one profile. Leastways, if there are multiple mes the others haven’t informed this one about it or any associated profiles. And if other people have multiple profiles it can’t change any gaming sessions I’ve had and doesn’t really affect how I’ll play in the future.
There will be a few people who know the actual numbers and not many are posting on here. On my check about 1.3mill were on the leaderboard for the opening hot wheels mission. We have a new story so those might provide some insight.
Game is dead and stopped growing a player base months ago. DLC made things worse, look at the drift zones and speed traps, hardly anyone is playing the DLC at all. I played and beat everything in just a matter of a few hours and have not been back to the DLC in weeks now and have no plans to ever do so.
God Bless

This game isn’t dead but it definitely doesn’t have the numbers PGG state.
15-20 million players will have installed and tried the game, mostly through gamepass, but importantly 15-20 million players do not actively play this game.
Let’s guess that 80% of players purchased the expansion. Based on a previous comment we know that 1.3 million players have done the first mission in hot wheels. That means in the last month there were a total of 1.6 million players who played the game at least once.
1.6 million is a big drop from “20 million” but still a respectable number. However this is not the number of active players. I would guess the number of active players is 20% or 160k users.
Now if the next expansion doesn’t come out this year then the number of active users could potentially halve down to 80k active users. This should be evident later on in game modes like Eliminator when less players appear in lobbies.
I think the game will hover around 80k active users for the rest of its life.
when i had my Xbone i had two different profiles on it as at that time i was playing a lot of Elite: Dangerous and was using one profile as an “open” only player. i did occasionally play FH4 with the alternate account just for giggles. but since i’ve gotten my gaming rig (PC) it has become my primary go-to for gaming. i do have an XSX now as well, but as i rarely use it i have yet to login there with my alternate account.
