Multiplayer not working - failed to acquire server data

Hey, guys! Installed the FM7 today and can’t connect to hoppers (any race at all). So i can see the possible classes for racing, pick any class, wait for 10 sec and the game says “failed to acquire server data”. I tried a lot of times to join but not a chance for me. Rebooting the router or restarting the pc does not help. The windows defender and such antivirus stuff is disabled, all other games work just fine. Can you please kindly help me with this one? I want to reach the multiplayer so much!

My location is - Moscow

Thank you in advance!

Hey, I had the same issue and this article helped me:

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/social/troubleshoot-party-chat

I also had an issue enabling the Teredo Adapter that the article is referring to (access denied) so if you run into the same issue follow this:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/983276/-your-network-connection-must-have-ipv6-enabled-to-create-or-join-a-ho

Edit: Also make sure Windows Firewall is enabled.

I did everything from these pages, and it is still not working for me  Any other ideas?

Thanks the Teredo stuff fixed it for me. I never even knew that was a thing this being my first Xbox/Windows Live game. I do wonder why FH3 worked without doing this though…

Thanks, Sprees! I used this article plus a next one (it appeared in the xbox live after i performed steps from a first one).

In the end i had to turn on the firewall too, but now it works!

Cheers!

I was wondering if I should edit my post and mention that, as I thought I read that it was necessary to have Windows Firewall enabled, but I wasn’t 100% positive. I’m glad you were able to figure it out, Happy racing!

What is the reason you need this info, to troubleshoot an issue you are having, or to help us? If it’s to help us it’s been solved! Thanks

Hey guys,

Can you let me know what your ISP is and which router you use? Also, if you are getting any error messages, let me know what they are. Server ID, Support ID, region etc…

Thanks,

Yeah i remember that teredo stuff with xbox, in some cases people didn’t had the psuedo adapter in device manager anymore (at network adapters), or other teredo issues. was the same back in Forza Horizon 3.

Beyond what I have posted, I’m not sure. What is your exact issue? Any information you can provide will help.

I´m not sure what else i can provide you, its really strange. For example, when im using the “netsh interface Teredo show state” command to check teredo, its showing me a success, but when im trying this after 1-2 min again, it fails. Same with this Networkchecker on my Xbox-App, sometimes it shows my NAT and sometimes not, except for the Serverconnection, its always blocked. But like i said i tried everything multiple times already…

What i can say u aswell, that when im trying to do Solution 2, which seems to fix the Problem for most People, im entering “netsh interface Teredo set state disable”, and after that when im wanting to uninstall "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface " or somehting similar, its not there anymore, so i cant really uninstall it

I tried everything suggested too (turning on those services, editing registry key, windows firewall both on and off). I even set this PC as the DMZ in my router. All to no avail. Every other game I have works perfectly fine online, even without the DMZ. Any other ideas?

Ok guys, im fixed it. Apparently there are router, who are using a “Teredo-Filter”, which is blocking every Teredo Connection. Im using a Fritz!Box, and this filter is activated by default. Maybe this can help some people as well.

In fact after few hours of playing multiplayer yesterday - i have the same problems today.
To get back to the multiplayer again i need manually (through CMD) disable and enable Teredo. Then reboot and it works for 1 time only. To be honest it’s quiet frustrating to do this CMD stuff each and every time if i want to go online - all other games without live work great!

p.s. i cant see teredo at the networks list (hidden one), but the cmd reset helps only for one pc reboot (WIN 10 64 bit)

Any chance for me to fix it for ever?

Thanks in advance

Try the second link posted, using the Registry Editor to enable Teredo instead of the command line, I’m not sure why this would make a difference but it’s worth a shot.

Having the same issues, my Teredo is deactivated but still XBOX App shows “Teredo can’t qualify”

Hey guys, sorry I can’t be of more help, I have very limited networking experience.

Just a couple things though, when running the Command Prompt make sure you are doing so as an Administrator

Windows 10 search bar > type cmd > right-click Command Prompt > Run as administrator

Also, make sure you read through the entire article and go step by step.
Disable any firewall that is not Windows Firewall that you may have installed.
VPN clients and the associated network adapters that are installed can cause an issue.
Routers can be blocking the connection as well, in this case, look up information on your specific router.
With each step where you make a system change I would restart your computer, and try to join a multiplayer lobby, before moving to the next step.

You need to enable Teredo, not disable it.

I found this worked as my Toredo was error in managed network…

This amendment fixed it for me

guys there’s another thing you can try if you are sure your terodo is working and your router is not blocking stuff. you have to restart 2 services on each reboot of windows. If i don’t do this xbox app in windows 10 keeps saying blocked and you can’t race online. check this if you are sure of no router & terodo problems https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/73a3yn/fm7_multiplayer_failed_to_acquire_server_data/dnp4lxo/

I had posted this on reddit

use the xbox app network test to see if it displays errors (it’s located under settings > network)

check that teredo works (not getting unqualified errors etc) google if that’s the problem usual culprits are things like a pcap (network monitoring) driver installed (i removed it), teredo not being active / installed (use show hidden devices in device manager and check with the network card entrioes), need for that teredo netsh reset statement in an elevated prompt ( Xbox Support written somewhere here) VPN or antivirus interfering with your connection

check that your nat is not strict if so enter triggers ports in your router it will go from strict to moderate
Xbox Support i entered them all in my port triggering (did not use forwarding as i have an xbox one as well)

lastly if all of the above are in order and you are still getting a blocked status with multiplayer check this :
https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/73a3yn/fm7_multiplayer_failed_to_acquire_server_data/dnp4lxo/ or check firewall settings

i had all of the above problems, first had to fix teredo, then adapt router settings and lastly had to restart those 2 services mentioned in the other post i have to restart those 2 services on each reboot of windows to make it work.

If windows xbox app network test does not mention any problems it should work

I have tried every suggestion on this page and I can not get the multiplayer working. I even did a clean install, still no dice. Anybody else still having issues?
