Current tyre wear in multiplayer is balanced around Forza GT races, and in class hoopers with similar pi and race length, that is S class tyre wear works like intended making medium compound last more or less whole short race, and soft compound is limited only to qualify, or in extreme situations as backup tyre if u choose wet tyre as start of dry race.
Since A and R class are that much different pace wise, races have similar length, and tyre wear last more or less the same, but in E-C class, races are lot shorter allowing players to use soft compound in race and on some tracks I was able to finish E class race with soft compound wear around 55%, this creates boring race tyre meta in e-c class races, making non race tyre tunes lot slower.
Although I don’t do any P or X class races I can imagine there’s problem with how long medium compound last, forcing players to use hard compound for most of short races (well I’m not sure here).
Since pi is calculated around medium compound, on balanced tracks like Barcelona or mugelo, regardless or your tyre choice u can post similar lap time as long as u have enough grip overall, that’s why in E-C class races ability to do whole race on soft compound, that is lot faster than medium compound, forces all players to use race tyre to be competitive, reducing number of available cars, and turns races into boring momentum race.
I have suggestion to change tyre wear depending on class, where in slower cars tyres would wear faster following this scheme where 100% = current tyre wear in multiplayer (Forza GT), and higher values = faster tyre wear.
X class - 85%
P class - 88%
R class - 94%
S class - 100%
A class - 106%
B class - 112%
C class - 118%
D class - 124%
E class - 130%
