Mud issue I've noticed

I’ve noticed with the new mud system being placed in the game, that the car drove onto the street from thick mud and not one ounce of mud or dirt were seen on the road from the tires which made it seem very unrealistic.

Can’t remember which stream I had noticed it from, either Autumn or Spring.

Could someone prove me wrong or has anyone else picked up on this?

They mentioned there was super fast stone masons working on the dry stone walls after they get destroyed, maybe they’ve got super fast road sweepers too?

Proof this community will complain about anything.

The forums are incredibly toxic at times. Hence I am rarely on here unless I have a technical issue. Otherwise I just play the game and enjoy it.

The game is still in development, things can change. I am sure that PG is going to take care of this

I think that’s said about more things that end up not changing than about things that actually do.

Mud not slashing onto the pavement seems like such a small thing to me that it might be worth bringing it up in a discussion about the game’s graphical details, but not enough to warrant it’s own forum thread.

Are you in the position to dictate what is and isn’t allowed to have its own thread?

I’ll break down the self-important wannabe moderator with a very, very fitting avatar’s mindset for you.
Allowed: unconditional praise.
Not allowed: anything that could possibly be added to a game to make it look, sound, play better, a behaviour also known as “complaining about anything.”

It doesn’t have to be a matter of just mud, as other softer terrains (dry dirt, sand, snow…) can be smeared on pavement that way, and more importantly dirty tyres aren’t immediately clean once you return to paved road, they need a few spins for that, which affects their grip. Conversely dirty pavement isn’t going to be as grippy. So in real life there are mechanical consequences for this, hence this issue is more than a question of graphics, taste, aesthetics… but it also means that T10/PG may not be in a rush to add this feature to the game, simulating the messier parts of dirt racing is complex, and in their mind this could be possibly more trouble than it is worth, because it is by no measure a “small thing”, at least as far as their own priorities with the game are concerned. Think of a trophy truck that is even just moving alongside the road, it should be powerful enough to cover parts of the road in mud. Ultimately my position on it is: “Would be cool though.” Hence me posting it in the Features Wishlists before the self-professed forum police is done smearing this topic with mud, or some other foul, semi-solid substance…

Speaking of which, how many games and which simulate this stuff? Spin Tires? Dirt?

Lol, and the other guy gets edited for words ‘alluding to profanity’

[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]

Anyways, I am not disallowing complaints about the game, hell, there’s tons I’d still complain about like why can’t we finally get more then just that one damn Forza Aero wing that doesn’t at all match the look I want from my cars. (That one rear wing for every car still really bothers me) I just find that a minor graphical feature that few, if any, games apart from Spintires have ever done is less important to the production of the game then proper gameplay features. I think the lack of mud getting flung onto the road when transitioning from off-raod to tarmac is such a minor thing as 99% of the time players will be going too fast to even notice it anyways.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this how Blizzard Mountain in FH3 was as well? Blasting through a thick blanket of snow onto a clear road din’t drag any debris or snow onto the road. I suspect that is a very graphically intense thing to pull off when its something you would rarely see.

Forza just has special ‘non-stick’ teflon tyres…
so the mud doesn’t actually stick to the tyre.

Unless… one of the jobs is roadsweeper driver and you have to drive around in a 200mph roadsweeper sweeping all the roads clean!

Onto the actual topic-most every feature introduced to Forza comes first from Horizon, usually these features get better as time goes on. We had deformable snow in Horizon 3, now we have deformable mud/sand in Horizon 4. At the moment I don’t understand the “mud implementation,” I just rewatched the mud race from the Autumn stream and yet the cars go through each lap squeaky clean when they should be caked with mud. I don’t know if its because its a dev build, or they just haven’t gotten that advanced yet. It won’t surprise me though if in Horizon 5 they take it to the next level, mud staining the grass, dousing windshields and whatnot.

Nothing but a guess, but particle effects are very graphics heavy. I would assume with the 1080p/4k graphics having even semi realistic mud splatter would cripple the xbox. No reason they couldn’t put it on PC other than the fact that it is nothing more than an xbox port.

Starting with FM7 and moving forward, Forza games are not XBox ports. They are coded and designed from the outset as PC games. Forza 6 Apex was a PC test environment/demo and FH3 was a port to PC.

My guess is that they’ve kept it out to save hundreds of complaints from PC users getting an “unacceptable/unplayable” 59 FPS
