When anyone has much Cars i thinkk the Time to choose a Car for a Race is to Short
YES, I agree 100%
In showdown races, you only get 20 seconds join into an online race/free roam, and it usually takes 15 seconds to switch between cars! 5 seconds to choose a new car is not nearly enough time. It should be at-least 30 seconds.
Also, if you’ve just started a countdown for an online session, then please make it so you cannot start another countdown right afterwords. I hate having to sit in a car show lobby and there’s one guy whom spends 5+ minutes sitting there “Tic, Tic, Tic” constantly counting down and restarting the countdown because no one wants to race at the moment. ANNOYING! >.< lolol
I agree we need another minute
Agreed. A time limit is totally legit, but we need more than like 12 seconds or whatever they give us.
I was in a lobby last night and we all said the same thing. 30 to 35 seconds would be good and IMO would not be too painful to wait for people that need the time, and I include myself in needing this time.
I haven’t played FH2 online but I know with FM5 I’ve joined games and before I even got to choose a car the race started and I had to run the car it pre-selected, which was always at the bottom of the class. The lobby would be like 700 PI and I’d be in a car at 607 PI. Something needs done so that either we get time to pick a car or wait until the next race. At least that was the case with FM5, anyway.
Agreed. We need more time to pick. I get enough time to look at my top cars and basicly pick one of the first 3 cars I have for that class. If I sneeze or have to scratch my nose its game over man, game over.
I agree with everyone here. I have had to quit online sessions because I didn’t pick a car fast enough and it picked a car for me that was a free car that I never even raced yet. No way I am grinding through 4 events and road trips to the events in a car I never planned to use.
30 seconds is a fair amount.
More time would be nice.
The other night I was playing with B Wald and he started a race and before my game registered it I had about 5 seconds to look for a car and got thrown into something random out of my garage. I don’t think 35 seconds would be too bad. Once you get a hundred plus cars, it takes a second to filter them and scroll through to get the right one.
I think everybody playing this game would agree… I feel bad because I don’t know where my new cars that I want to race are so i end up going to best available car because I know where it is and have time to pick it. More time would be great!!!
I think 30 secs would be the best amount of time before a race. Gives people enough time to change their car without being too long.
+1
totally agree 100%
another little idea would be to have an audible countdown timer in the last few seconds to remind you to pick a car quick
finally someone sees what i am saying damn i have so many cars and they don’t even load fast enough to see them all either I do know what cars i have but i don’t wanna read over 40 vehicle names in 30 seconds not gonna happen it isn’t the worst thing that could be happening if it was the only thing happening i wouldn’t mind to much but i could go on and on about how messed up forza is acting right now i want them to get on it like today but that wont happen and i still can’t even join s1 or s2 races only A B C D work for me which is really really terrible.
Did you guys even notice it is less then 30 seconds when you join a game that is already picking there cars pre countdown it dose not reset the timer for you. I’ve joined at 15 seconds and 20 seconds constantly next time your joining pay attention to exactly how many seconds it really does give you.
Any word from Playground Games what they are working on patch wise?
Definitely need more time to choose a car. This is my biggest gripe with this otherwise-awesome game. It is odd that it is implemented this way as it just feels panicked and it’s very annoying if you don’t quite select one in time and end up with a stock, untuned, mess. I would suggest the following:
- Default time of ~2 minutes. Or at least allow the host to define the ‘car selection time’ when setting up a new race (and save the last setting so this doesn’t have to be done each time!).
- Provide info about the race you are about to do, such as surface, weather, etc. The host obviously knows the route/class/settings that they choose, but when you join a race, you select the car first (and quickly) without knowing any of this! It would be sensible to include the percentages of different surfaces and details of the race length, etc.
- Have ‘ready’ status so when everyone selects ‘ready’ a 10 second countdown begins, but allow the host to force a 10 second countdown (like FM5) in case someone is stalling unecesarily.
- Audible warning for the last 10 seconds of the countdown.
- If you fail to select a car in the time limit, at least let the game auto-select a car from your garage (ideally, a predetermined ‘favourite’) rather than a stock, untuned random car.
Other related changes:
- Option to create your own races by laying down your own waypoints, etc. And be able to save them, organise them and share them with Friends or the community. It seems an oversight to have not included this as default functionality given the open world style: A complete coastal race, or entire motorway race, a super-long 100% of roads race would all be on my list. The ability to select an image for each ‘user-created race’ such as an in-game photo, would be excellent. You could get payouts for the community raceing your races.
- It would be nice to be able to change tunes and paint jobs while waiting in the car selection lobby.
- I quite often have disagreements with friends over who bumped who
- it would be great to be able to create a replay that everyone could review in ‘aftergame highlights’. Perhaps automatically record key events during a race showing key skills and crashes, and especially player/player contact! And then to be able to save these highlight replays.
- It would be nice to be able to designate certain cars as ‘favourites’ and then be able to easily filter for them.
- It is annoying to have to fast travel to a race to then start it. The host should be able to start a race via the map. Also, other players should be able to at least propose a race, so it shows up on the host’s map.
- Option to ‘Re-try’ a race should be included, so you can easily repeat a great close race, for example.
Please Turn10, PLEASE!

I don’t get it. Your cars are always in the same order. From the voting-screen, you can pretty much guess already that car you will need. From then it’s flicking your controller left/right this many times, press A and there is the car you wanted for the session. Unless you drop smack in the middle of a session, I can assume you might need some more time yet you have no clue what races/events are still coming. Why not pick your safest car for the remainder of the session?
I played online C-class all the way to S2-class already. Completed 60 roadtrips from front to back. Completed another 40-ish by joining halfway in the session. Never had I the impossibility to choose a decent/correct car in the time allotted even though I have more than 185 cars in my garage.
The issue relates more to starting a single race from MULTIPLAYER FREEROAM. I’ve not played much of the MULTIPLAYER ROADTRIP yet but I imagine the same is still true, especially if you’re stuck with your choice (or the computer’s!) for multiple races. It may be that your play style means this isn’t an issue for you; but for me and others in this thread, it is an issue.
People like to customise their experience but there is currently very little control in the gaming modes or how they are managed by the host. My friends and I currently enjoy finding a route and then racing it through each of the classes from D through to X, then moving onto something else. We like to experiement with different cars, making sure they are suited to the terrain, but the game currently moves on without giving you time to think or compare alternative cars. It seems like a very easy change to implement - a quick win?

Need more time. Been stuck in a lot of stock cars or cars I did not want to be in.
