I am extremely excited for Forza Horizon 6. But, watching a FH6 video yesterday, I saw that nearly (or maybe even) all trees are breakable! That’s not realistic. One thing I loved in FH2 and FH3 was that you couldn’t break every tree. You can’t in FH4 or FH5 either, but 4 and 5 didn’t have realistic features (but, I am not an expert on driving cars into trees), and apparently in FH6 it is going to be anything. Please, please, make not all trees breakable. Please.
This car didn’t break the tree (and it’s a rather small tree):
I don’t even think it will be good in the eliminator. One thing I hated in FH5 was that if you are in the slower car, you lose, skill hardly matters. If there are no trees to avoid, that is making an even bigger advantage to faster (heavier I suppose) cars.
EDIT: now that I watched it again, I’m pretty sure something’s either bugged or not finished there. Neither the trees, nor the barriers slow down the car at all. What he hell?
Ok, so, now, I’ve seen that not all trees are breakable, and some not huge trees are breakable. But, one size tree might break, but is the exact same size as a tree that wouldn’t. Talk about consistency…
I believe the devs won’t go back to realistically indestructible trees, as it was in FH2, because they specifically wanted to enable players to “b-line through the map“ in FH6.
I made a separate post proposing a difficulty setting for all destructible props (not just trees), so players could customize the experience instead:
Yeah a shame that there is really no way back to the more realistic approach. FH2 taught us that small trees are okay, larger trees will mess you up, urban streetlight posts will fold like paper, but telegraph poles out in the country will absolutely destroy you. And FH2 knows best!
