Essentially as the subject says, I am attempting to download Forza 6 Apex but can’t as I don’t meet the minimum requirements. I have a GTX 660Ti (with latest drivers - 352.63) which is compatible with DirectX 11 but for some reason on the download page it says I don’t meet the “DirectX Feature Level 11” requirement. Can anyone explain?
A Direct X Feature level is part of a Direct X level It seems the 660 does not support feature level 11_1 That may be the issue but I’m not sure which feature level Apex requires. I know this is a bit confusing. Not sure how well it would run on the 660 anyway. Not that great on my 965m but playable and that is 3 generations newer. What CPU do you have and how much system and video memory?
I’m not sure that I following. According to the wikipedia page you linked to my 660 still meets the ‘DirectX 11 Feature Level’.
A GTX 660 Ti is also a fair bit faster than a GT 740 which is listed as the minimum graphics card spec it I would have expected it to be reasonable.
…Just seen your most recent edits… Yes, it seems very confusing - I guess it must require Feature level 11_1 - would be nice if it actually said that and if the whole feature level thing didn’t have the same numbers as direct x itself.
So in that case, can anyone confirm that Apex needs ‘Feature Level 11_1’ and/or that it also doesn’t (or does?) work on their 660Ti? I think it does run on my friend’s 670 though which I would have thought would be pretty much the same.
–edit-- I’ve confirmed that it does indeed run on a GTX 670 - which I believe from a DirectX perspective is identical so I’m not sure what’s up.
Anyone else got it running with a 600 series card?
The game requires a DX12 graphics card. IYour card doesn’t support DX12.
???
Aha. How good his 660ti (Kepler) is a DX12 GPU …
APEX runs superb with a 660ti @ 1080p.
Please post your dxdiag info file for full system info. …(how to)
So it turns out the issue was the drivers. Despite downloading the ‘latest’ drivers from the Nvidia website (352.63) I noticed that the system tray icon said there were updated drivers. After downloading and installing these (v372.70 - big difference) I now meet the minimum specs and can download it… just have to wait for it to finish now.
Well it downloaded and it runs ok form me and I only have a GTX 650, so surely it should download and run on a system with a GTX 660 just make sure you have the latest drivers from Nvidia, I recommend getting the GeForce Experience app as that will check and make sure you have the latest drivers installed.
