[Mid-range PC] Good performance but random freezes

So basically the game stutters a lot. I have 60 fps most of the time but loadings are really long (especially the benchmark) and the game drops from solid 60 to 1 fps. Like in FH3 before the 2nd patch.

my rig :

  • i5 4460
  • GTX 1060 6gb
  • Ram : 8gb
  • installed on HDD
  • Windows 10 Creator

Hope we can find a solution

I tried Dubai circuit and Nurburgring and also having stutters during every race. And in half an hour the game crashed twice, similar like FH3 crashes on my PC (crash to desktop).

Ouchā€¦ This is a bad thing because I want to do endurance races but if it crashes before the end of the race (like in FH3) it will sucks :frowning:

The difference is that I have a GTX960 Nvidia card. So I would say try and try and try. But as I said, in my case the game twice CTD-ed in half an hour play. So I do not place an order for the game tonight but will try the demo more the next days. But as I feel now, it will be PC2 instead.

I think that T10 can fix this issue with the final game. They probably tried to play on a GTX 1060 and 960.

Well they couldnā€™t in Horizon 3, because it crashed randomly everytime and with every update for me.

Can everyone make sure all your drivers are update? Also if you have MSI Afterburner running, please try closing the program and relaunching the game to see if your experience changes.

Drivers updated and MSI Afterburner is already 6 months the standard answers to CTD of FH3. I have my drivers all updated to the latest version and I donā€™t use MSI Afterburner. I send several times the reports of the CTD for FH3. But nothing changed and on with my PC FM7 has the same issue as FH3. So rather take the feedback this time serious. In all communication on Forza Hub there is only talk about the xbox this and the xbox that. I donā€™t own a xbox and never will. So I hope Turn 10 take the PC versions of the games more serious and fix the problems for once and for all.
For now I will pass on the FM7 but I am very interested in a stable FH4 next year.

Can you please send me a private message so I can further look into your experience?

OK, i have a good PC. A i7 4790 a GTX 1080 and 16GB Ram.
The game stutters from time to time and i dont know why. I think it stutters, becuase it uses one CPU core at 100% all the time. Forza Horzizon had the same problem. After a patch we could use all cores and the stutter was gone. I thought the Turn10 optimised the game for PC gamers.
It runs @ 60fps most of the time but it also drops to 40fps with very bad frametime. I closed MSI Afterburner nothing changed. Low,mid or high always the same problem. I want solid 60fps with solid frametime.
You guys said you learned a lot from Forza horizon 3. Where, I dont see it? Do we have 2 wait 3-4 months for a patch? Forza Horizon runs much better then the Forza 7 Demo.
I think i will wait, and i canā€™t recommend the game at the moment.

i could play the demo for an hour without crash/freeze but then the full freeze happenend with the porsche. also random minilags/freezes in the menu. still solid 60fps with 2500K cpu and 960gtx 4gb most of the time.

As I wrote earlier that the Demo version of FM7 crashed to desktop quite a lot, I can now say after playing the real FM7 game for two and half hours I did not experience any crash to desktop. From the looks of it Turn 10 delivered a much more stable PC game this time. Thanks a lot!
The only remark I have this far is that loading a new race takes a long time. Probably has to do with the fact that all FM7 files are decrypted and need to be encrypted on the fly.

Guys, make sure that ā€œgame-modeā€ and ā€œgame-dvrā€ is off in windows settings, game-mode ā€œONā€ causes stutters for me also.

For Nvidia Cards - Nvidia Control Panel :
Power Management Mode - ā€œPrefer Maximum Performanceā€

Windows Control Panel - Power Options :
Select ā€œHigh Performance Planā€

I to had large stuttering in game but, luckily I used an old trick I learned when playing F1. Disable Super Fetch.
open up the serviceā€™s list and locate super fetch. right click disable, problem solved (at least for me).

@Canadian squad, interesting, i remember in Windows Vista the Superfetch service was really bad, it would constantly create harddisk activity in the background, in Windows10 i didnā€™t expect this, then again i have a SSD so superfetch behaves differently.
