While I was able to complete twice the demo yesterday since its launch, I can’t even finish the first race today, even using the lowest graphics settings. The benchmark race works without any issue though.
My specs :
Windows 10 N with MFP
i5-6300HQ (~2.7GHz)
GTX 970M (3GB VRAM)
16GB DDR4 RAM
The benchmark works flawlessly with High/Ultra settings at 30fps v-sync on 1080p with long motion blur.
Yesterday, I was able to play on High at 45~60fps since the 60fps w/ v-sync is forced (bug probably) starting the winter phase on the first race.
Now, even with low settings and without motion blur, the game seems to struggle with texture loadings, giving somewhat invisible roads, audio glitches (with and without headset), instant-stopping cars randomly, and crashes at the end of the autumn race.
I noticed that the GPU usage was far higher than yesterday (went from ~70% to no less than 95%), and the audio glitches happened when the GPU usage hit 100%.
There is no change on the benchmark mode, works the same way it did yesterday.
About the car-stopping thing, it happened to me in the past on Forza Horizon 3 on Blizzard Mountain when my laptop only has 8GB RAM, then it disappeared when I upgraded to 16GB RAM.
Welp, tried to redownload the demo to see if it was a delta issue, but it’s not. Same issues, even with the recommended settings (Low at 60fps on 720p).
Weird thing I noticed is that when it crashed, GPU & CPU usage weren’t even at 50%, according to Process Explorer. Threads just froze up then killed themselves.
I’ve been unable to get past the waterfall section, it crashes whenever it get there. Running a i5-6600, 16gb of RAM, GTX 1080 at 1440p. I get 55-85 fps in the benchmark on nearly maxed settings (4x MSAA instead of 8x), so performance isn’t an issue. I’m on the latest Nvidia drivers. Not running any antivirus software other than Windows Defender.
I’ve tried lowering the graphics settings and resolution as low as it will go, didn’t change anything.
Well, i can’t even try the demo on my PC - it’s launching, i can do an autumn “race” but then the demo is crashing into the desktop when the Winter cut scene
My PC: i5 7600K, 16GB DDR4 2400mHz, GTX 11060 6GB - overall it runs very good on Ultra @60fps but the issue is crashing.
PS: i know i can have issues like crash do desktop in full game (like with Forza Horizon 3) so i will not buy Forza Horizon 4, sorry - it’s not the cheapest game and i don’t want to throm my PC thru the window!
Thanks for the suggestion, but I was already on the 399.07 version when it crashed for the first time. Did you get a similar issue and managed to fix it by doing so ?
YUP I SPENT THE LAST 2 DAYS GETTING THE DEMO TO RUN AND RUN WITH ALL AUDIO. I POSTED ALL MY FUN AND MY SETUP AND ALL THE DRIVERS I CHANGED
. I GOT IT WORKING FINALLY. I ALSO DID A CLEAN INSTALL WHEN I ROLLED BACK AND RESTARTED PC
No fix? Just installed the demo today and it crashes after the first race for me as well. Doesn’t even technically finish the race, just drops when you reach the waterfall. They think I’m gonna buy something when the demo doesn’t even work???
Ok guys, i think i have found a fix It working for me!
Launch FH4 and (i think you don’t have to but i did that) wait for the Tunr10/Microsoft intros - then press ALT + TAB to minimize the game, then right click on the sound icon (little speaker) and choose “open mixer” and there you turn off the FH4 sound (click the little speaker). Maximalize the game and try to complete the race, no crash on Waterfal After Waterfall cutscene you can turn on the sound)
And that’s really interesting ! Not only the game could go beyond fall race, but also I did not encountered an invisible road or stopping invisible wall once ! Even with the near 100% CPU usage. Looks like it’s a sound issue then.
I’m gonna play a bit with the sounds settings on Windows to find more info on this, but thanks, it’s working now.
