Hey guys, so I got an email from Microsoft, there was no NDA or anything (So mods don’t need to delete! lol), I was just asked not to forward the email.
It was linking to a survey specifically about the Forza franchise. Now some of the questions were the usual ones that don’t really give you a choice, just options that say what THEY want to hear.
BUT! Some of the questions were genuinely interesting. Which Forza did I like most/least things of that nature, what do I think of changes, what’s missing etc.
I take from that, Microsoft are listening to concerns (a little late), but some progress is better than none! Hopefully Going forwards some things will return, or they will evolve the game in a way that takes gamers input more seriously.
This is all good!
However, Microsoft contacted me, NOT Turn 10. Which makes me think my suspicions have been right all along, as publisher Microsoft have been pulling strings and directing things at Turn 10 while Dan G claims they’re completely autonomous. Otherwise why are Microsoft contacting me and not Turn 10? As long as things improve i’m not too bothered. Most people know that First party studios are on a relatively short leash most of the time. But Microsoft have made so many dumb decisions this past few years, it doesn’t inspire confidence when they’re running the show and having more influence than perhaps they should.
This is not an attack on either Microsoft or Turn 10. In fact it’s good that they are listening and hopefully addressing concerns. So credit to them for taking this direct approach to long time fans. I think things will start to change in a more positive direction now guys. Fingers crossed and Kudos to Microsoft!
No i meant why are Microsoft contacting me, and not Turn 10 contacting me? You seem to have completely underestimated my mental faculties. lol
Turn 10 are the devs, but Microsoft are the ones running the survey. Which suggests Microsoft are calling the shots more than they should as a publisher. That was the point of that part of the post.
I think you don’t understand their relationship. Turn 10 is Microsoft. Microsoft built that studio from the ground up. They aren’t the publisher, they are Turn 10’s boss. Turn 10 is not autonomous nor were they ever. If Dan said such a thing he only means the creative process of what is in the game.
I get surveys on several games all the time. It is just routine, and we shouldn’t try reading something into it that is not there. It is simply routine.
That’s how rumors get started, someone assuming something that isn’t true.
I’ve even gotten a survey about 360 games and how they’re doing in the compatibility on Xbox One, the new X1 dashboard, messaging between the 360/X1 and on PCs/Mobile devices, etc., and occasionally even regarding usability of xbox.com itself.
Well it’s the first time they’ve done it regarding Forza. I get plenty of surveys from game companies, but Forza has always been a franchise that espouses community support, while never showing as much as they claim. So I thought it worth mentioning. There have ben lots of posts about Turn 10 not listening, which to be honest is the impression they give. So this at least shows they are listening and there is some proof to corroborate that.
Okay, but you’re still reading too much into a “survey” which is sent to anyone who has indicated on their Xbox Live account information they want to give feedback and receive offers.
Turn 10 Studios is one of the wholly-owned entities under Microsoft Game Studios, the “video game production wing for Microsoft, responsible for the development and publishing of games for the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Games for Windows, Steam, Windows Store, and Windows Phone platforms.” Halo production, from 343 Industries, as well as Gears of War (The Coalition) are a couple others under MGS among 29 such studios worldwide.
Ok, I was trying to demonstrate to all the negative posts on here that they are listening. You obviously disagree. So i’ll stop trying to persuade you. lol
One typical role of a publisher is to gather customer information, from surveys and focus groups. They then pass this on to the developer, typically with additional commentary. How the developer uses this information will depend on their relationship with the publisher. The more independent the developer, the more they can choose to ignore or act on it.
IF MS needs informations about Forza, they should scroll around in this forum.
I got once a mail/survey from EA,after replying i couldnt log in anymore on the EA Server
Interesting survey though. I checked my email and completed the survey. It doesn’t ask a lot of detail about the game and I wanted to say more, but alas I couldn’t.
I’m sorry, but this doesn’t mean much in practical terms.
They have managed to exclude a number of things from newer versions that made the previous ones so great. I fear that what started as a “realistic driving experience on console” is going to turn into a track and car roster fest with “accessible physics” to keep gamers happy.
Forza is not Forza anymore. Their last good effort was FM5 - it had reasonably nuanced physics, true-to-life car audio and visuals that showcased the X1’s graphical oomph. And, bugs were almost non-existent. Almost. Very well thought-out and refined games. Fans had a lot riding on Forza, especially being the second FM game on a new-gen console. Alas, F6 is a game with wait for it… more cars and tracks with the inclusion of night and rain.
When will Forza truly push the boundaries in terms of audio and physics? If I want to play an accessible and fun game, there are other options out there. This is what makes Forza great: the realism, depth and authenticity. That’s starting to get a little lost in translation.
Sorry i forgot about the previous survey, but this does show something has at least changed at microsoft as this asking customers about Forza is a recent change. They really messed up with Forza 5 and they knew it. Forza6 was an improvement in some areas and a let down in others. I’m merely trying to be optimistic to a degree as to the future.
Many features have disappeared and people are rightly upset. But some people appear to come on these forums just to moan. I was merely trying to offset that.
These forums have been dying for a while and the negativity around here is part of that. Yeah, the negativity came about because of certain design decisions, but that shouldn’t have the effect on the community that it has.
Long time members have become jaded to the point they’ve abandoned forza. These were long time fans, who’d had enough. Microsoft have obviously recognised that fact (too late as usual), and are at least attempting to get some ground level data from actual users, rather than relying on the usual chain of yes men who get everything wrong.
