loosing upgrade from cars bought in auction house

When I buy a car from the auction house and want to make any changes to the tuning, all the upgrades are removed and are gone. They need to be repurchased. This includes all upgrades, all performance and all cosmetic body parts. Like if I want to change rims, I loose the front and rear bumper, side skirts, hood, wing and every performance part. This has cost me loads of credits. You pay more than dealer cost for a car because it has all these extra parts added on and if you want to lower the tire pressure and you just reverted your car back to stock and lost all the upgrades. When is this going to be fixed?
Happens on my Xbox One with the preview program and my Xbox One X without it.

Probably never, there is a reason why downloaded tunes are locked in the first place.

it even tells you this will happen

This is not a bug, but rather a design choice. One I actually agree with as it prevents people from stealing other people’s work, to an extent.

I understand that you are reverted to stock, but in previous games you would still retain the parts that were removed. (I even believe at launch of the auction house in this game you would still hold onto the parts removed, not 100% certain.) So you could put the body kit back on and and change the rim style and still have all the performance parts the get the A class stock car back to R class. Now if you want to change the rims you will have to buy all the performance parts again to get back to R class. Makes buying anything besides a stock car from the auction house pointless. This is not how it has always been and it does not tell you you will loose the parts, just that it will be reset. This same notification has been there in past games too, but you kept the parts. So please go back and double check before you post smug responses.

It doesn’t tell you that the parts are going to be removed from your inventory. It never did that before in previous games.

Again I understand reverting to stock tune to prevent people “Plagiarizing” others tunes, but the parts that were on the car always stayed in your inventory and could be put back on. The tuning of that car was lost however. I think people aren’t understanding the difference from an actual tuning set up and that of which I bought a bunch of parts to dress up the looks and increase It’s P.I.

It doesn’t for me. All the cars i have tried still have the parts that were on the car when i brought it at auction, and I can re-add them for free. The same as homologation parts being able to be put back on to any car.

I tested at least 10 over the last few hours.

Thanks, I’m glad someone understands what I’m talking about. I will make a video later with upload studio, I just over paid for a opel with big rims on it so I can show that the upgrades disappear. I really could careless about the actual tunes that come on auction house cars as they don’t go well with my play style and the assist that use or don’t use. Mainly I find most tunes I download work better with normal steering but I like simulation and they don’t touch the braking much and I run ABS off.
Now when I download a tune the parts that I buy stay with the car if I take the tune off. Just when I take a tune off a Auctioned car the parts disappear.

It never did it before in previous games and it allowed people to copy the tunes/build and/or unlock them, therefore allowing people to steal them. They would make all the profit from someone else’s work, without spending additional credits.

This prevents that as does the tuner/painter of the car getting a cut of the sale from the AH.

My next question is, why are you buying a car with a tune if you are only going to pull the tune of off it?

Buying the same parts doesn’t mean you copied the tune. A lot more work goes into the tuning (gear ratios, aero, braking, chamber ect). The past games did not let you copy that stuff, but they did let you keep the parts. There is a big difference between adding parts to an A class car to get it to R class and tuning an A class car to race in R class.

Say I have the choice to buy an A class car for 250,000 cr and have to add another 100,000 worth of parts to get it to R class or I can get a deal on the same car in the auction house for 275,000 that is already at R class. Before you used to be able to buy that car in the auction house and if the car wasn’t times to your driving style you could keep all the parts that get it to R class when you remove the tune and start from stock and tune it your way. And you wouldn’t have to go out and buy all the parts again! So like I said there is no point to buying anything from the auction house now unless it is stock.
