Level of Detail AND Field of View (LOD, FOV)

Hello

I have a really annoying problem with the LOD or FOV. Like you can see in the screenshot,
the distance rendering has a very hard break from “render” (bevor red line) to “not render” (after red line).
Does anyone have this “bug” too? Or is it a bug overall?

My videosettings are on maximum. 16x af, 4x msaa, fxaa on, 2560x1440

So it can’t be the Anisotropic Filtering…

Noone has the same problem?
I see in front of me the graphics loading. O_o

I guess they don’t. Some info might help, like system specs, what other software you may be running. The usual troubleshooting request.

I dont think, it’s really a problem of my rig.
Thats why i nothig wrote about it

More likly i think, it’s maybe an driver-option or a
ingame-option that i have to turn off/on. idk

Or the game IS that way, and it’s normal…
that would be horrible for me.

drove yesterday a 64km long track in the snow.
and all around me i saw the graphic popping in…

My Rig:
6700k @ 4,4GHz
2 x 8gb DDR4 @ 2998MHz
Game is on a SSD (Samsung 840 Evo)
GTX 1080, 8gb VRAM
Dell S2716DG @ 2560x1440px @ 144hz

Frames: 70–100
Ingameoptions: very high / ultra

All drivers, the game and windows are up-to-date.

Mostly: only HWMonitor and Firefox (Mixer)
is running in the background. But without theses,
the FOV isnt better.

You should consider disabling FXAA off due its smoothing the graphics to blurry when its turned on…

Like it was on the original Forza Horizon…

I’ll give it a try. But i had tested some graphic options. (MSAA off, 2, 4, 8, AF, AA max and of etc.) (driver and ingame)

8x MSAA is a little much for my 1080  And DSR isn’t working for this issue.

There is an option in graphics settings called “dynamic object geometry” - set it to “Extreme”. Helped me with this issue but has high performance impact (10-15 fps on my pc).

I only notice it when I’m not moving. It would be great if they could figure out a way to triple or better the LOD distances when screenshots are processed. That’s still only 9 realtime frames worth of foliage.

Make sure none of your settings are on “Dynamic”. They can revert to that as default and the game will think it’s ok to give you a sub-optimal picture.
You should be able to run everything at ultra. I do and i’m on a 7700K with a GTX 1070, so you should be able to do it.

It’s not FOV it’s LOD. your anisotropic filtering or landscape geometry isn’t rendering at highest levels resulting in mushy textures.

I’ve tested all out. Nothing helped. :frowning:
I hope, in the update 5 it will be fixed.

(And i’ll give a try on the support)
