who dose it work? dose it go up by likes, downloads or uses?
It takes all that into account.
Do you know how many paint downloads you need to get above the amateur stage?
It think its 200 for amateur
I have been looking for hours on the forza forum and google for an answer with nothing remotely helpful.as the thread states what exactly is required to level my painter rank up? How many downloads uses and likes does it take to level up my painter rank? I got to amateur rank after 100 downloads and that was hundreds of downloads and uses ago so at what stage will it go up again and so on until you get to legend painter status? Any help would be greatly appreciated in advance many thanks

So I have something to aim for doing something I love doing . It shouldn’t need an explanation just a answer to my question from a person who knows the answer.

Not sure if tuning and painting use the same levels but at 1945 tune downloads i am semi pro.
Have no idea about uses and likes.
Edit: Someone i know has 5463 paint downloads and they are elite (4stars)
You can do your own research by looking at player storefronts.
I suspect: 100, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000 downloads but i may be wrong.
I’m currently a little over 9,500 downloads from designs and vinyls combined. I’ll follow up here if my status changes at 10,000. I didn’t pay much attention as I was leveling painter status until now, but I would guess that Eduardo’s estimates are pretty close.

I was still a Freelance Painter at 103 downloads but by the time I reached 108 I became Amateur.
This affects how much you can set auctions at as well doesn’t it? So we don’t get 10 million credit hockey striped cars. But it also means good designs may sell cheaply because you’re not allowed to set higher prices.
Bit of a double edged sword that one. lol

Well … went over 10,000 total downloads today, but my painter status did not change. Not sure what the requirements are. It would be nice to know all these things.

Maybe it takes account of likes or uses as well.
I will try to look at a few painters and tuners and see how many downloads they have at 5 stars.
That is all I can see for other people (as far as I know).
I would actually like something in game like fireworks or some kind of celebration or even a message saying “your dl/uses/like have increase and you have now achieved superstar status etc”

SHHHHHHHH.. they did something like that in Horizon 2 and it sucked… you’ll start with the “Congrats One of your designs hit amateur status, get your designs out there to earn more credits”, something to that order, ya see it doesn;t say ya made anything, but it also doesn’t say ya got anything either..
Up until now I skipped doing any designs in Horizon 2/XB one, lol now its hard to get stuff out there.
I just went over the 10,000 mark as well thinking it would change. My guess is that it’s something like 20,000 since anything in-between seems too arbitrary. Good luck!
Well thank you all for your input on my questions I appreciate it very much my painter status went to semi pro today after 700 downloads I’m making alot of progress with my new designs I had 200 downloads in the last 24 hrs I will be adding more stuff every day but its a bit hard when I’m working 12 hr shifts with 3 kids distracting me all the time lol

I am searching for this answer as well, but as far I know, I believe it not only depends on the downloads, maybe the Use and Like have to be include. Since I just got Legend Painter status this morning, with my storefront download just 16K. But I saw some others player’s storefront with 20K downloads which is more than mine, BUT still an Elite Painter.
I have over 827 downloads and hundreds of uses and likes but i am amateur still i really wish the would give the official way this works.
I hit legend tuner status at 22,900 downloads.
