I’ve had 2 extra profiles promoted to Pinnacle and from what I’ve seen it works exactly as described by T10 and in the TrueSkill docs.
On one of them I did some hopper racing before I went into the leagues and it started me off based on my general MP performance - so I went straight into Pinnacle. On the other profile I ran a league race right at the start and so got put into Grassroots, and after that racing in the hoppers had no effect and I could only get promoted by running league races. That took a bit longer, presumably because in Grassroots I was racing really slow people and so beating them had a smaller effect on my own TrueSkill score. From memory I think it took 4 races to get from Grassroots to Pro (skipping Enthusiast), only 3 in Pro to get to Elite, then I had to wait a few days for a new set of leagues and then it took me 6 races in Elite to get into Pinnacle.
I might try to get one of them demoted to see what happens.
I’ve raced the OP, they’re not slow. Do the leagues run in trueskill threshold or total number of players? Probably the former, the lack of pinnacle participation does not necessarily mean there’s fewer players. Regardless of how it’s worked out, I prefer leagues to public hoppers.
Pinnicle league is not dead, when it’s a popular division like global touring cars, v8 super cars and modern gt it’s often packed. I suspect alot of you are having the same problem I did when trying to join my friends in the league. for some reason I couldn’t join them, no matter what I did id just end up in a lobby on my own. This might be down to being blocked or having an avoid me rep. This could happen both ways so you could be in the lobby with avoid me rep stopping anyone new getting in or be on the outside and not being able to get in because of your rep. The leagues is such a good a idea I really hope they can get it sorted for 7 the hopper system is dead a relic of the past and it serves no purpose other that to give idiots a chance to be idiotic.
Imo no 1 with a avoid me rep should be allowed in pinnicle it’s always going to cause a problem when u have 2 seperate match making systems working against each other. Forza things jo racer is great coz his TrueSkill is high but anyone who racers jo racer reports him for ramming and cheating. Which 1 takes priority?
Another thing worth considering is cheating and lack of competitive racers. Not all but a few that get promoted to pinnicle cheat to get there by any means they can and alot of racers just arnt really fast enough to be in pinnicle. Most of the faster racers i know will not put up with this and choose not to race as they can find a more competitive race in a private lobby with racers that are clean and the same speed
