leaderboard car's ain't 100% true

i’ve noticed over the last few month’s that you should never assume that all car’s used on the leaderboards are the car’s they actually used.
one way to tell if the top 10 guy’s are using the same car or not is set a lap time then go back to the leaderboards and go to nearest player and scroll down to rank 1
that way you will have all the true reading’s of what car’s people used and not what they didn’t use.

What do you mean? How can someone use a different car than one posted on the board? Is the game itself reading the car they’re using wrong?

lower class leaderboards are never spot on go check a class you have a top 1000 time in and check what cars it shows top 10 are using then go to nearest and scroll down and tell me if all top 10 are the same not all race tracks will be the same cars used

my mate is rank 7 on topgear east reverse now when you go top scores it says he used a chevy spark but on nearest he used a ghia, thats an example

After the top 100 the list just repeats itself. #101 will be the same as #1 and #102 identical to #2 and so on and so forth.

I think what you are seeing is the same thing in reverse. When you view times “near me” and then scroll up, you are seeing a repitition of the 100 positions around you.

i think if the top scores sees the same car used 6 times out of 10 then the other 4 are also put as the same as the other 6 to make it all look in order, i have had to use near me and scroll up alot and alot of the time its differnt cars and a and s class leaderboars are a bugger for that

I kinda doubt that to be honest. Ask your mate what car he used. That will answer the question for you.

It probably doesn’t help either that people are getting better times in lower level classes than the classes that fallow. Just an example, if by some miracle I’m able to pull off a better than 7:00,000 lap around the Ring in an R2. When the classes and times merge it may throw off the standards set by the programmers. I’ve actually done this in an R1 setup A4.

No, the best way to see which cars the top 10 are using is to go to the specific leaderboard you wish to view, refine to “top scores” by pressing X, and look at the top 10 right in front of you. This will show you exactly what car they used. A bad way to see which cars they’re using would be to refine to “near me” and then scroll up. If you do it this way, especially if your rank is quite far down and you have to scroll far to reach the top, that leaderboard starts repeating. The leaderboards are pretty crappy for this. Also, if he’s 6th, just watch the replay that saves for times in the top 100, it’ll show you for sure which car he’s using

yea, I noticed something was wrong with the leaderboards. Still don’t know what it is but I was trying to see if I had the fastest civic on a particular track so I scrolled down and I saw everybody was using the same car. then I exited and tried again and it was completely different. Weird.

It’s simply a leaderboard glitch. As someone stated above, after about 100 ranks are shown, it just resets the order of cars used, so 101st will be shown in 1st place’s car, but when you view the replay, it’ll show the true car. Likewise, if you’re 101st and scroll up to #1, it’ll say that the person used the car you did even though this proves to be false upon viewing the replay.
