The latest update with the ability to unlock framerate broke G-Sync for me. I changed to unlocked and G-Sync stopped working. When I switched back to the previous setting of 60 fps without vsync, G-Sync still would not work.
Update:
So best to my knowledge, it appears the update caused vsync to be enabled again regardless of setting. For those of you that don’t know, if a game has vsync locked on, then it causes G-sync to not function.
Update: (07/06/16)
G-sync is working again. I don’t know if it was the latest Nvidia drivers released today or the update for Forza that included the framerate counter. Strange that this update included no fanfare at all.
I’ve tried toggling settings, G-Sync, restarts, etc. The only thing I haven’t done is blown away the settings file because I don’t know where it would be since it’s locked away in what I assume is the apps folder.
Is your G-Sync still functioning after changing to unlocked fps?
I’m not running G-sync currently so I couldn’t tell you. Have you tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers? Mine bugged out a few days ago and reinstalling them did the trick.
No offense, but I’d rather discuss this issue with others using G-Sync. I’m no stranger to systems, both hardware and software, so I’ve done all the remedial stuff.
That said, I’m going to try finding the settings file, or if someone for Turn10 can chime in so I don’t have to hunt, and rebuild it (a.k.a. delete it so Forza can rebuild it) in case there is a stuck setting. I have a feeling I’ll be waiting for another patch of some sort.
I guess all of the graphics settings (or at least some) are really bugged. MSAA setting for example, only dynamic setting works. All other settings are just 2xMSAA. I guess something similar is happening with the v-sync option.
