Lack of new cars due to upcoming Motorsport?

Im starting to think that new cars are getting throttled by T10, so when Motorsport comes out they have more new exclusive cars.

It does get kind of fishy when you look at all the new audis that got added. Out of all the audi models they held back 2 of the coolest ones - the Rs6 and the latest R8. They didnt even add the latest rs3

They added a golf mk7.5 (why) and not the golf mk8

Add the new tacoma, tundra and 4runner, but no gr yaris or corolla?

I expect these cars and alot of your favorite new cars to appear in Motorsport on release

I think we can expect 1 (2 if we are lucky) new to forza cars per update untill Motorsport comes out in late spring, and hopefully fh5 will get the new Motorsport cars added along the line.

Also i think the suggestions hub car voting list is a double edged sword which shows the devs which cars we really want. Theyll add a few, to make it look like they are listening to us, but keep the rest for Motorsport so they can get our money!

Logical. I doubt that much logic extant but maybe.
I’m not buying anything before the fact from them.

Not all cars for Motorsport belong in horizon

Then there’s the Pontiac Aztek in FM6 that belies the exclusion principle.

Imo, fh1 had a lovely tight car list.

Bloat has come in over the years, a numbers game for the sake of it.

Look at the suggestions hub, fh5 would have every car ever made if pgg were to follow it /s

Motorsport was always about being able to take your crap starter car and drive and upgrade to compete in higher championships while being able to enjoy the track focused cars and full on race spec cars.

Horizon was about the festival and the cruise and the spectacle imo (just look at the event race types)

Track focused cars (not just full race spec cars as you alluded) are far better suited to the Motorsport series imo.

This car belongs in a class with the AMC pacer and now with the Smart 4-2. That class is the “why did they ever make this car” class.

It’s possible, but I think the more likely scenario is that the pandemic severely crippled access to new vehicles. As a result, Playground probably only had enough genuinely new vehicles to pad out the Car Pass and the expansions, and rather than face backlash for returning old cars through paid DLC, they decided to face backlash for cutting cars out deliberately at launch and returning them through the Festival Playlist, thinking since the updates were free, it’d soften the blow.

After all, it technically worked for Horizon 4. Some cars cut from Horizon 3 eventually reappeared in Horizon 4 through the Festival Playlist, and there was more rejoicing than sighing, even on the forums. It’s just Playground probably thought they could do it again on a bigger scale without consequence, and, well, here we are.

Personally, if my theory is what actually occurred during development, then Playground would genuinely have some of my sympathy because the pandemic was hard for everyone. But their workaround to not having enough content for the game was completely butt backwards if this was the case.

The smarter thing to do that would have angered off no one was to bring over most if not all of Horizon 4’s car list, bring back most of the missing cars from Horizon 3, bring over more road cars from Motorsport 7, and then pad out the Festival Playlist with polished models from Motorsport 4 and Horizon 1. That way the launch car list wouldn’t have been a hollowed out carcass, the purchasable DLC would have still featured all-new content, and the returning content in the Festival Playlist would have actually been, you know, returning content.

Would that be the troll car class

I think that any road legal car is fair game for the horizon series. And the cars i mentioned arent even pushing the limits of road legal

As for regular cars in horizon series for me its a mix. I see your point that horizon shouldnt have a gran turismo style car list (e.g. Yaris 1.2, 1.4 1.6… and so on), but on the other hand this is an open world forza game where regular cars would actually fit in.

Btw they need to bring back the s class

Not really a reply to the topic, just your comment, but FH1 also had track/race spec cars. Remember the viper acr-x? aston martin v12 zagato (villa d’este)? gumpert apollo enraged (street legal apollo R)? Not to mention all the track/race spec cars we still have (zonda R, F40C, the 599XXs, etc).

Very true and I would understand the car list being closer to Motorsport for the first iteration.

There are a large number of cars that don’t belong (Classic racers category). While some straddle the line of street/race (Ferrari 250 GTO), others were only built as race cars and don’t make much sense (959 rally car, when already have the street version). I would have not been upset of they had taken some of these and replaced them with cars that are more street purposed. When it comes to classic Ferraris, we are missing some seriously popular street cars (308, 512 BBi, 400i), just to have a 330 P4. Many of those classic race cars not being very competitive in Horizon and it’s current PI system.

Mind you, I don’t mind those race cars in Motorsport, it’s where they belong…

I actually don’t mind most of the classic racers in Horizon. I only really draw the line at the classic open wheelers and the modern racecars (isn’t much of a need for these in Horizon since most are based on road cars already).

My point was more about the pure race cars, rather than the crossover cars. The 330 P4 and the 917 LH and 917/20 and others are best served in Motorsport, not Horizon. The fact that there are certain Ferraris that are avoided (those I mentioned before) is sad. I know Ferrari didn’t have the best reliability in the late 70’s to early 80’s when it came to their road cars, but they are some of the most iconic from that era, if not overall. If I’m not mistaken, the 512 BBi only ever showed up in 1 racing game (the offshoot TD series, Ferrari Racing Legends).

The 512 BB has appeared in every Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo 5. Plus, if I’m not mistake, it’s the BB that we would want performance wise. At the very least, the BB is better looking than the BBi with the two-tone color scheme.

Also, in regards to the Le Mans racers, I agree the Porsches don’t really need to be there, but I imagine the 330 P4 is mostly included for Ford v. Ferrari recreations since the GT40 has been in every Horizon game.

Sorry, I don’t include Sony because it’s an exclusive to a console I don’t own. TD:FRC was available on PC and consoles. Since PD had mentioned looking into porting to PC, maybe I’ll have a game to transition to and I can wash my hands of FH.
We’ve had the 330 P4 since before the movie. That’s a wash.
