The porsche “expansion” had 23 cars and a track with multilple variants. This “expansion” most likely has 3 cars and a track with multiple variants. I dont consider it 24 cars, its 3 with 8 different liveries each. Im sure they’ll do what they did with porsche and have some nascar drivers talk about whatever track you’re about to race, and it’ll have its own rivals, leagues and multiplayer. But i believe it will also share the same fate as the porsche expansion in that the lobbies will be empty. The last i checked one of the vir tracks had 80,000 times posted, which is a decent number of people who bought the pack, but the last time i checked the porsche leagues there was 4 people in pinnacle, thats right 4. The multiplayer lobbies either dont work or they’re a straight up ghost town. Im all for expansions, but an expansion usually is an extension of a game, not a game within a game. Expansions worked in horizon because it was a separate part of the world, it doesnt work so well in motorsport. This just makes the track worthless because it can only be raced within the expansion multiplayer and basically you’re paying $20 for 3 cars to use in regular hoppers. Im happy to see nascar return to forza, but i just dont like how turn 10 has implemented the porsche expansion, and i cant see the nascar expansion being much different, if anything its worse because its a lot less cars for the same price. I dont have a problem buying dlc, ive bought every bit of dlc turn 10 has ever offered, I just dont like the business model they seemed to have chosen.
Alright, this thread has touched on a couple related issues pertaining to returning cars.
The complaint of paying for cars that were in Forza on Xbox 360: That was Xbox 360. That’s irrelevant on Xbox One. If you look at Gran Turismo, it’s a franchise whose glory days are behind it, and GT5 really marked the turning point, or perhaps more of a tipping point over the edge of a cliff. One of its big problems is recycled content. They cheated to pad the car list to over a thousand cars, partially by having dozens of duplicate cars but also by 80% of its content being copy-pasted from the previous generation. I don’t mean PS2 models being remodeled for PS3, but rather PS2 models looking like a PS2 game on PS3. That’s horrible.
Content that was on Xbox 360 can’t simply be copy-pasted onto Xbox One without looking like an outdated game model. So, to look like an Xbox One model, it needs to be remodeled and retextured. That means they’re basically building a new model, even if that car technically existed in a previous game. It costs money to do that, much the same as modeling a new car. Being on 360 is basically irrelevant with Xbox One.
Since FM5 people complained that FM4 had all these many hundreds of cars but FM5 had “just” 200. That’s just four typical racing games’ worth of content in one game. If Need for Speed, DiRT, Driveclub, The Crew, or whatever had 200 cars that would be mind-blowing but when Forza has 200 cars it’s treated as horrible. Again, they couldn’t simply port all the FM4 content over because it would look terrible, like how 80% of GT5 looked terrible for that time. More cars and tracks is always better and we all want that, but they can’t sacrifice quality for quantity.
If you don’t like the DLCS, you don’t have to buy them, no one is forcing you to buy the packs, the only packs I’ve liked has been the F&F Pack, the Porshe Pack, the Top Gear Pack, and the Hot Wheels Pack, if is see a DLC I don’t care for, I simply don’t buy it and move on, if I think the nascar DLC sucks, (which, if they mess it up, I’ll be extremely upset) I will not buy it, simple as that
To date, I’ve spent $150 on the game. My decision my money, no one held a gun to my head. But this microtransaction business has to stop.
I’ll be skipping the Nascar DLC or any other future DLC for that matter, I’ve already spend too much money on DLC which could have used to purchase two more games at least, so that’s my two.
Tracks should be free to begin with - even if they must charge, $5 sounds like a reasonable amount. T10’s track modeling is nothing special even though they say every square-inch or mm is laser-scanned, they still miss out on some of the dips, bumps and elevation changes in the actual tracks.
Paying $20 on an expansion just for the sake of the track is an absolute no-no for me - I do not like Nascar, never have or will I think. You guys enjoy the pack!
Too many cars in the game already - I really wish they’d address the current issues and bugs along with a few more tracks.
Not sure adding the Porsche pack can be described as lazy. It has been 2 or 3 games since some of those cars were in the series so they would not have been straight ports. Also I doubt the discussions with either Porsche or EA were a party either.
People are complaining about them adding the NASCAR series where the cars are generic (either 3 models or 1 model with different skins). Well all Turn 10 are doing is adding NASCAR. Not their fault NASCAR is a series with generic car models in it.
I’m seriously amused at some of the comments ppl are making regarding issues relating to the game getting additional cars,my racks, and with them, Class leagues and Rival Events.
Gamers are now SPOILT SO MUCH, thet they font even consider the HUGE amount of work that has gone into presenting the masses (not the lone individuals that complain bitterly) with extra cars, tracks (read plural because of various ribbons on each circuit) and added bonuses such as mentioned before. The extra racing leagues, rivals and carrer events.
Go back a decade, or even before that, and gamers would be lucky to get 1/8 of what they currently get bundled into a game. Yet they still complain. After spending 7 years following and reporting gaming news, doing extensive reviews, previews, and developer days for the press, I have come to understand the HUGE amount of work that goes into just one single title.
Let alone an ongoing title, that has gone through several iterations and is facing further expansion to deal with current trends. I’ve had “complainers” come onto our site and eventually start writing for us. When they fo, and are exposed to the inner workings of how a game progresses, they inevitably change their tune as to what they expect from games.
We have become OUR OWN WORSE ENEMIES. I say that with emphasise because I want ppl to understand that what’s happening right NOW, is not the developers fault, or the platform companies fault.
It’s the sole fault of those gamers constant complaints to want more, and more, and then I Ben more. And even THEN they are not satisfied.
One only has to read through this and several other threads to see this.
We have do much choice now than ever before, but it’s never enough. There’s a few generations that just ‘expect’ things to be dropped in their collective laps. They have sadly grown up in an era where even kids as young as 2-3 yrs old, are ‘given’ mobile phones, iPads, or similar devices.
They haven’t had to work for them, or gain them through being good, or doing the right thing, or even just about anything. They have acquired them as default aids from their parents, who Aldo have grown up in similar situations.
This fosters a sense of ‘entitlement’ that has now even infiltrated the workforce around the globe.
Thing is, if you don’t like or want the expansion packs, or the DLC car packs, then DONT GET THEM.
If you fo, out of some sense of …‘I should have it, and I’ll complain about it just the same’ even if I actually like it, because I can…etc etc etc.
We should enjoy what’s being given us to choose from. It’s not being forced upon us, we’ve not been told to buy it or suffer the consequences etc. we’ve been offered the choice of getting them and enjoying them, or not as the case may be.
Thing is, these are most likely the last of things being made for the game for the foreseeable future. The entire development crew, incl MS, Turn 10, the ad ppl, the marketing ppl, the PZr ppl etc etc are well into working on the following game, whatever it may be.
But I doubt it’ll be something ppl are actually expecting.
My prediction is that it’ll be something out of left field, and it will upset many, and conversely, make many very happy. But don’t expect the obvious, because if I’m any judge of how things go, I’d say we due for a major shake up of the entire franchise. That’s ALL games within the franchise…
And there is such a thing called buyers remorse. Nice try in trying to make those who purchased and didn’t like it the bad guys.
For me it was like $3 after discounts. Pretty easy choice for super easy gamerscore. I just wish shooting for the achievements wasn’t so boring. But then again T10 isn’t known for creating fun to earn achievements.
Exactly, but the Forza community hasn’t had something to complain about in all of a day, so after they fix the DLC packs, they will just go to next thing
NEXT ON 2 NEWS AT 10, Forza Motorsport 6 Community wants a black driver option instead of just the “male and female” drivers, Susan Boyle has more.
It really becomes annoying to read all this complaining about expansions or car packs. You dont have to love them, but you also dont have to buy them.
When I decide to invest money-i’ll proof what content is inside…
I for myself enjoyed the Porsche Expansion, gave me straight 10-12 hours of racing after finishing the career.
I’m not a big fan of NASCAR,but maybe thats caused by living in germany and its in general not popular here.
But,for sure,i’ll purchase it tomorrow and i’ll check out if it was a good deal.
Good to hear, a man not afraid to spend his money, and then make an informed assessment as to whether or not it was worth the money FOR HIM.
And that’s the whole crux of he matter.
Some ppl will not like whatever it is, but that doesn’t mean OTHERS have disliked it. It’s your opinion, not the opinion of everyone rose.
If you don’t like how the game is progressing, and you want to be heard, then vote with your wallet.
Or simply move onto something else IF THE GAME is SO TERRIBLE. Then if that’s the case, then why buy stuff, and why still play it, and most obvious, why come to forums for a game you dislike or even hate??
Begs the question, why buy a game and continue to put money into it if you don’t like it’s?
Just seems odd really.
Bit like buying a car, not liking it, but continue to spend money on it by getting new mags or better sound system…doesn’t make sense, now does it.
Lighten up, it’s a game, either have fun with it, or find one that you enjoy more.
My only issue is not making the track available to everyone in the online hoppers. If you want to charge for the track fine, if you want to make it available for tuning and free play only to the people who paid for it fine, but don’t add a fantastic track like VIR to the game and not put it in multiplayer. It is probably my favorite track outside of the nurburgring and it really sucks it’s been not at least in the hopper rotation.
I’m not at all complaining about the content per dollar amount because I more than get my money worth. Its just a shame this awesome new track(VIR) and possibly new track in the NASCAR expansion won’t get added to multiplayer hoppers but for some reason Road America East and Monza short (the two tracks that are just two straightways) come up multiple times a night. I have yet to race Monza full in a class based multiplayer hopper, although it did come up in mutlitclass… And it was epic
People should know my stance on thus by now, but is also understand and agree with you with regards to allowing DLC tracks to be used by the masses I the MP sections you’ve mention.
Not all, but a select number so that the ppl that purchased the Expansion Packs still feel like they have something unique. While at the same time, allowing the masses to use the track to expand the online experience.
As THAT is the MAIN thing that drives this franchise (no, the pun was unintentional lol)…
It’s the glue that holds the franchise together. Without it, it’s just a great single player experience, that has a limited time period of game-life.
When one reviews a game, we always look for the longevity of the game in question. Sometimes this is made possible by a huge online gaming experience that expands the game indefinitely . So in that case, the game gets a solid score. As longevity is the key for a games success.
In some cases, the way a game is produced relies on the single player experience. Think games like Thief, Assasins Creed (earlier iterations), Alan Wake etc etc.
But Forza is built for BOTH experiences. Not just one.
I’ve read some gamers in here that never even play the single player side of the game…yet they diss that part of the game.
Now, if those ppl were reviewing this game for say my old website, I’d have to decline to print it.
Reason bring that they have NOT experienced the entire game, so they can’t state categorically that the game is terrible etc. how can they if they’ve not even bothered to try it.
We need the tracks to be made available to all MP players. But only the lobbies that have been mentioned, that way it still allows everyone access, but it also weeds out those that just want to ruin the game for everyone.
Enjoy what’s being offered. Because soon there won’t be any more additions to the game. Expansions will cease, and support will be the only avenue left open for your complaints. Look at Aforza 4 & 5… Whatever is given you, enjoy it while you can.
Forza does single and multiplayer and I’ve played both due to my love of achievements and they both suck. Too bad really because the basic aspects of a great racing game are there.
The solution is simple. Players who don’t have the track will just have to sit out a race. That’s what happened in FM2 and it wasn’t a big deal.
I may have read this incorrectly here so I will apologise in advance if that is the case!
Under NO circumstances should a DLC track be placed in a MP Hopper rotation to allow people who did not purchase the DLC to race on it, that is a ridiculous idea as far as I am concerned. Turn 10 spend time and money adding extra content to the game and then sell it as DLC to hopefully cover their costs and maybe even make some profit (they are a business first and foremost!). If I am a player who has just paid for content that other people are getting for free, I’d be pretty damn upset about it. If people want to race on the track, put your money where your mouth is and buy it, otherwise accept the fact that you don’t think the purchase worthwhile and go without. Based on the VIR logic people will be asking to have the option of renting Porsches for MP races next…
I agree that we should be seeing the DLC racetracks in the hoppers so we can experience them in MP, Turn 10 needs to just put in a mechanic so that players who don’t have the DLC are unable to participate in those races. Of course leagues need to be different again, you can’t put in tracks that not everyone can race as it puts them at a huge disadvantage earning the points to place well in a league. I know that VIR appears in Porsche hoppers, but not offence Turn 10, I want to race more than Porsches in my MP races!
Well technically its is 24 different cars, now I don’t know how much freedom you are given in the Cup series but teems do build their owns cars differently amongst the same manufacturer, happens in V8… sorry the Virgin Australia Supercars and the BTCC. Although they haven’t done this with the Commodore V8s in game as they are based of the Xbox car from 2013 and don’t have the correct dash bord of the 888 built cars, same with the BTCC Avensiseses, 2 out of the 3 actually had different body work to what is shown in game and both Peugeot 908’s only got half changed.
secondly, the back of the F1 game will say “featuring all 20 cars from the 20xx season” as there are 20 cars not 10, yes there are 10 models but there are 20 F1 cars. Same if you made a BTCC game you would say “with all 34 cars of the 2016 Championship” not "With 11 of cars from the BTCC with 23 different liveries, and same make/models with differing sub frames, engines and suspension packages ".
Thirdly A governing body, team and or sponsor and manufacturer would rather have there car as a stand alones rather than just different livery options in the colour selection menu. I do think the RLL BMW GTEs should have been in the game as one car with a different livery. Gran Turismo’s way of doing it is a good way, the NASCAR Cup cars and Super GT cars are all separate cars in the list but the Ferrari F2007 (and others) had 4 paint options, both drivers early season and the metallic red used for the rest of the season for both drivers.
Its not like buy cutting the number of liveries youd some how get an extra 21 different models, same with those that complain about selling DLC when they should be fixing online issues, I doubt they person who spends 6 months modelling a car is also the online coder, it’s like complaining about T10s janitor cleaning instead of modelling a new track.
