I’m beyond thrilled to get these cars back. The Lancia 037 was my most successful car in FH4. I’ve been putting off starting the Rally Expansion until they returned.
I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about Lancia being the only ones available right now. They did say that Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Abarth will come back.
I can only hope it better not be a paid DLC pack. Racing DLC pack was reasonable as it is because it has new to Forza cars. Charging people money for returning cars is criminal.
some returning cars in wheelspins (I have over 1000 regular wheelspins and over 450 super wheelspins so wouldn’t care at this point if they did that).
some cars in the auto show.
some festival playlist cars.
some newer cars as DLC (Italian automotive car pack).
It’s probably going to be a combo. Wouldn’t be surprised. Only alternative is their typical drip-feed of 8 cars per month….but based on that photo above, seems not likely….I hope.
I don’t think this is likely but I wouldn’t mind if there are 9 reward cars divided up over the 4 seasons, 2 cars per season from 20pts + a seasonal championship and an 80pt series reward.
Then a few more put into wheelspins and the rest as rewards for some new accolades.
Wouldn’t be happy with them putting some in a paid DLC pack unless they’re what Audible said ie newer ones that haven’t been in the series previously, the reason it’s been such a long drawn out process getting them back isn’t any fault of us the players.
Given what they’ve done to Toyota, it’s pretty clear what’s going to happen. 1 or 2 autoshow car. And all the rest of the models will be exclusive content in the playlist.
Call me another very hyped about the return of these brands. In a twist of fate, I leave August 17th for a month long vacation in Italy, away from my Xbox so if the cars are all ‘exclusives’ I still won’t get them. I’m just clinging to the unrealistic hope that all the brands/cars also go into the Autoshow.
I’ve never been to Italy, though I would love to go, but maybe you’ll see the Italian Automotive cars in real life there…
In all seriousness, if you have an Xbox, you may want to consider safely packing that with you and put in the absolute bare minimum to get the cars while you’re there.
I’ve said it before in another thread but it’s worth repeating. I suspect that at least some of these cars are coming to the autoshow for a couple of reasons.
My first reason is that they advertised all four brands returning. It’s possible they just have more exclusives this than their usual 4 or 5, but I’d wager it’s more likely all four brands are returning to the autoshow, with their usual 4 or 5 seasonal exclusives also from those brands or at the very least following the theme of Italian Automotive.
My second reason is the precedence set in FH4. People often forget, but there were two car manufacturers that 4 didn’t launch with but eventually returned to the game. Toyota (the car division at least) and Mitsubishi. In Toyota’s case, the licensing issues were anticipated, so it was likely that no work had been done to add those cars in the game, whereas with Mitsubishi, it seems that the licensing issues came as a surprise at or near launch. When Toyota was added back, it was just one car in the autoshow and then a dripfeed of seasonal exclusive content, but when Mitsubishi was added back, all of the cars that were ready came to the autoshow.
We know for a fact that at least Lancia was intended to be in the game at launch as there is pre-launch material that shows both the Fulvia and the Stratos in it. It’s also a safe assumption to assume the same was true of the other Italian Stellantis brands. I can’t guarantee it, but I think it’s very likely that at least some of these cars come to the autoshow.
How many is probably directly related to how many were completed pre-launch of the game.
It’s also worth noting that the drip feeding and recycled cars have gotten significantly worse since 2020. Unfortunately with the current state of FH5, it seems more likely they’ll do the exact opposite of what the players want.
Counterpoint: There are a lot more cars to recycle going from 4 to 5 than from 3 to 4, and 4 wasn’t immune to recycling. I remember having to wait a long time for my beloved Corolla SR5 even after Toyota came back.
Recycling kind of has to get worse just by the very nature of the newer games having more cars and therefor more to recycle into the next iteration. I also don’t know what the porting process is but I doubt it’s a simple copy-paste. You’ve at the very least gotta make sure everything works right with the new suspension system in 5.
I do get the aversion people have to recycled content, but I do want those cars back, and PGG does require some return for the investment of porting content over.
I’m not entirely defending PGG here. I certainly wasn’t a fan of having content withheld just so the early playlist could be populated. FH4’s system was better, where it didn’t launch with the playlist but waited some time to both build content and allow people to finish the solo/co-op campaign. But there is a balance with these things. The business model needs to be at the very least sustainable, and needs to be profitable if it’s going to continue to expand investment.
It’s also worth noting that back in series 16, the FORDzathon, there were hardly any Fords in the game. And we all wondered why they called it a FORDzathon. Here’s hoping we don’t get a repeat and this series leaves us all wondering why they referred to it as anything Italian. Just looking at it from a realist view point.
