Is the game not compatible for AMD 3D V-Cache CPUs?

I’m currently running a 5800X3D 3080 and 128gb ram while installed on an SSD and the game will frequently go from 100 fps to 30 until a restart after doing simple gameplay actions like viewing my settings page or upgrading parts of my car. 9 times out of 10 after the game has switched over into this limbo of recompiling shaders it will think I’m suddenly running an AMD GPU and recommends FSR 2.0 to me. I’ve talked to many others who run 3D V-Cache CPUs and have their game unplayable because the game doesn’t know if they have NVIDIA or AMD graphics. Does anyone have any more knowledge on whether or not this is a massive issue that needs to be addressed by T10? Anyone else with an X3D CPU finding their game to be unplayable after a short time?

Works mostly fine for me on a 5800X3D and 7900XTX after enabling Radeon Chill and limiting my framerate. Only crashed once over the past few days.

Sorry! I forgot to elaborate this in the post but I’m mainly talking about people who run NVIDIA gpus with an AMD 3d cache cpu. Id assume an AMD cpu and AMD gpu would run fine but the issue im talking about is the game getting confused about whether it needs to compile shaders for NVIDIA graphics or AMD graphics because the 3D V-cache in the CPU has a dedicated high-speed memory buffer to cache vertex data with rendering games. Hence why the game is constantly trying to compile shaders mid gameplay and switching between DLSS and FSR at random even if the user does not have an AMD GPU.

I can confirm the switchover to AMDs Image modifier

On a 3080ti and 5800x3d myself.
The rest I havent had happen, But I have had plenty of chugging FPS issues since launch.

I have an RTX-3080 and the 7800x3D CPU. I haven’t had any problems like what you’re having. My FPS has always been quite consistent in the game, with no huge drops like you describe. I haven’t seen that behavior in any other game, either.

Interesting. You’re actually the first person I’ve talked to running a 7800x3D and if you’re not having any issues it could be relegated to the AM4 chips.

The game has run fine for me a few times at a beautiful 100 fps on ultra everything but at random it will suddenly shoot down to 30 after loading into a new track or even just returning to the main menu after a race and wont reset until I restart the game. Very weird issue that seems to be plaguing select 5800 people on similar hardware. I hope T10 can look into this because I’ve been wanting to enjoy this game without having to babysit it haha.

I’ve never been able to run it anywhere near 100fps on my 3080ti on a 1080p panel.
I’ve also had it begin to flicker severely in the main menu at times after the games been running for a while. Everything running pretty low usage at that, so nothing like a GPU heat issue.

Really?! The game tends to hover between 85-100 for me when it wants to run correctly on a 1440p monitor. The inconsistency at which the game wants to run for people is the annoying part! Some people have no issues while other have pretty massive game-breaking frame rate drops on good hardware. The last few days I’ve spent trouble shooting as much as I could. My last resort is just redownloading the game since I downloaded awhile ago.

I’ve had flickering issues for a bit but I think I came to the conclusion it was my monitors built in HDR. Or possibly if you’re overclocking your monitor.

yep, most ive ever seen is 78
Performance seems to be all over the place.

I have the same issue. [Reddit post]

Same config and at home the game crashes at the end of each race

Yep, just played the game again for the first time since November and I’m still having the same issue. Have you figured anything out?

Wrong reply^^ :stuck_out_tongue:

Since updating my graphics card, I don’t have any more problems. AMD still has work to do, but there’s room for improvement

Guess its time for an upgrade :sob: but with the condition the game is in rn idk if its even worth it upgrading just to play it

Im having a similar issue to you with an older CPU. Ryzen 5 5600X with a 3070 GPU. Suffering with random frame rate drops when loading into tracks. The only remedy i have found is restarting the game. Ive checked all the usual suspects, GPU driver, windows update, chipset up to date, etc.

Using 5800X3D with 4070Ti. The 1% low fps is terrible. FPS drops only occur in online modes and the benchmark, not in career matches. Although setting a 60-fps cap could significantly reduce the frequency of this problem, I’m still not happy with it.

I don’t think the FPS dips are due to the 3d v cache. If it hasn’t already been stated here, the culprit on AMD is the use of Smart Access Memory at least. Turning off SAM clears up the FPS dips that occur in certain portions of the tracks. We shouldn’t have to turn SAM off, but the issue isn’t surprising considering the list this game already has racked up.
