Is something wrong with the F1 cars?

According to the video:
Do you see something wrong with the physics of this car fundamentally?
Handling?
Sound?
Suspension travel?
Lack of DRS indicator?
Short Braking Distance?

Im sure everything is inaccurate. Assetto is a sim, forza at best is a simcade, you cant really compare the two.

Yeah the F1 cars are really just there as an extra to the main game. This game does not simulate Kers or DRS.
You have to realise that these are different games aimed at different markets. There may be some overlap in racing game fans but Forza is for mass market and is one of Microsofts main franchises to sell Xbox One, while Assetto Corsa is designed as a hardcore sim for actual real race car drivers to practice on.
There is also the fact the Forza has over 700 cars while Assetto Corsa has less than 100. They have taken a lot more time to get their cars just right.
Many of Forza’s cars aren’t that different from each other really, while every car in Assetto Corsa feels unique.

Kunos also developed this game on an actual racing circuit and work a lot more closely with actual race teams. As stated it’s nor fair to compare these games The may look similar superficially but they are not the same type of game.

Right so I’ll make a long post here on what’s wrong and how to fix most of this…

Horsepower: The Renault R.S.17 produces far too much horsepower in Forza 7. It produces 1110hp in Forza 7 which is inaccurate. It makes the car too fast in top speed, acceleration and makes the car wheelspin too much. To fix this go into “Race Settings” and set the “Power Handicap” to 0.85. That makes the car produce around 940hp which is far more realistic.

Suspension Travel: To fix this go into tuning and increase the suspension stiffness, rebound stiffness and bump stiffness and if you need to the roll bara. That’ll fix it that problem.

Like I said in other posts, I make realistic tunes for the 2018 F1 season in the Tuners Garage check them out if you want.

Actually, F1 DRS is pseudo-simulated. It is shown as activating at high-speeds, but unlike the real cars or in the F1 video games, there is no button to activate DRS, the game does it automatically at certain speeds just like all the other active aero cars.

Well the gain from drs is baked within the acceleration and top speed of the car but it does not affect handling. So technically DRS is constantly on whether the animation shows different or not. Personally I think it should be completely closed if they aren’t going to use actual DRS zones.

Is something Wrong with the F1 cars? YES, they are way too fast for my 66 year old reaction times. I was at the F1 Series in the career and after trying the 1st couple of races , I gave up, set the race distance to Normal with Normal AI just to get it over with. Now I can back to racing.

They’re not only way to fast, they’re also way to nimble. Especially when using the ‘controller’.

I did some laps at a friends house on F1 2017 with his wheel setup and with my Forza experience I quickly was lapping as if I did that regularly. But in Forza I find it very hard to keep the car on track (I don’t have room for a wheel setup) but most of my off-track moments are on the inside of ‘easy’ turns because of the aggressive response to short taps against the stick.

And then I arrived at the last race of the series… Nordschleife… My first response was to switch the X-box off. A difficult track to drive with far better cars and almost impossible to overtake. Maybe I’ll give it a try when I’m in a very good mood at 0% difficulty and just knock the other cars out of the way. But that is not what I have in mind when I want to race.

That race is pretty bad. I would try a grid bonus mod if I were you.

On the physics stuff, I think there’s a fundamental problem with how Forza handles aero. Downforce itself is way too overpowered, which is why brakes are so strong, but it also seems that the transition from low grip to high grip is way too sudden. I have raced F1 games on controller (not on the Xbox One, of course) and the cars felt much more predictable.

Good idea.
I don’t have any right now, but with 30 million in the bank, I should be able to buy enough mod packs to get some of those
