I normally game on a Series X, but I’ve moved a copy of the game to a little desktop powered by a 7735 AMD with a 680m inside for a GPU. I gave up on PC gaming years ago but I’m still curious on the tweaking and settings side of things, what settings are other 680m owners using?
Big thing for me is I aim for a locked 30fps with vsync, just like I do at 4k/30 on the Series X…but I know this APU won’t be able to push those kind of numbers, but I’m curious what others are doing.
I’m sure most of you are using settings to push max-framerates, but if anyone else is looking for a locked 30fps and achieved it, well, I’d love to hear your settings.
This PC was basically a low-wattage replacement for a GTX-1080Ti fueled gaming PC that I got tired of watching breathe fire and suck wattage just so I could post on a forum and do email, but it’s got this little 680 in there…and the nerd in me wants to at least see what it can do…
Anyone else got one of these little mini’s and run Horizon 5?
I don’t know if your mini PC would run FH5 but I somewhat doubt it. What I would caution is the save between PC and console. I too play on series X but having easily synced previous Forza titles between PC and console, I decided to add 5. All was ok for a short while, then problem syncing on X box. Lost 4 months of progress and immediately uninstalled from PC.
Yeah I’ve had issues with that in the past, I’ve learned that when letting two different platforms try to sync up its best to let it sit there and take its time. Once it must have taken at least 5 minutes to register even 1%…then it suddenly caught up and was done. That was Forza 4 but I’m sure the same applies today.
As for the Box, yeah it runs the game. I’d say like for like its better settings than the Xbox One or Xbox One S could do, if we limit the resolution to 1080p its probably around but-not-quite as good as what the Xbox One X…or Xbox Series S could do…and it is not TOO far off than what the Series X looks like (again not at 4k tho or 1440p). But if you can stick to “around 1080p” resolutions, sometimes slightly hither and sometimes slightly lower, you can get a game running locked 30fps that looks as good as a last-gen console. That’s impressive.
Or drop some settings and get 50-60+fps…very impressive. I mean, it’s not some 4060…it has hard limits, but if your screen is small or ordinary sized or you are running this on a laptop portable type of screen, at 1080p in 16x9 this thing is going to punch above its weight for sure in many games.
