Not sure if I’m being too picky but anyone else feel that FXAA and/or MSAA have no effect on the game. I’ve tried the game with both on and off and found no discernable difference. In the official game footage we see a beautiful soft world, lush with amazing fidelity, depth of field and gorgeous lighting, not a jagged line in sight, yet I don’t see that in game.
Please don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the game and have been enjoying myself but you know, just want to know if it’s intended that the world look ultra sharp at all drawing distances with no DOF and obvious aliasing appear on cars and buildings, power lines and especially plants.
I’m playing with specs in sig, at 5120x1440, ultra settings, extreme textures (seems to help with pop-in) and yeah, the AA definitely seems like it isn’t doing much.
They do, but very little. FXAA dn MSAA are TERRIBLE antialiasing methods, you would say arcaic methods. FXAA is not even an antialiasing per se, it is just a post-process effect.
It happened the same in FH4. Even with 8x, you will still see aliasing everywhere if you play on 1080p.
Nvidia control panel cant access game libraries so that shouldnt be a problem. The only antialiasing you are using should be the one in-game.
Until Forza Horizon sarts using AAA features, we will never see a proper antialiasing in this franchise.
Devs also dont really care anymore, in fact they use this as an “excuse” to work with hardware companies to force people in using 4k screens and even more expensive
hardware. Its ridiculous.
But just to be clear you dont notice any improvements switching it on /off? are you sure?
4x and 8x MSAA Don’t work at all for me. 2x Seems to work as the fps is lower than if not using MSAA and there seems to be less jaggies, but not sure if placebo
This issue is still not resolved. I’m playing with 1080p extreme settings with my RX 6700 graphics card. I tried all settings with AMD Redeon, anti-aliasing is not working correctly.
