iRacing format style (Spec Series car list) (License classes)

An attempt to improve the featured multiplayer (Introduction, Featured and Spec Events) and make it more interesting following the racing format that currently works best in driving games like iRacing, GT7, or systems like Low Fuel Motorsport.

Better series and races
  • Series with open and fixed or identical setup.
  • A limit of contacts and off tracks instead of so many and ridiculous penalties.
  • Warnings, slow down, drive through.
  • Damage in races to make better use of SR in matchmaking and avoid abusive use of engine braking.
  • Possibility of adding restrictions in some series such as tire compound, number of pit stops, etc.
  • Show sectors, rivals’ tires and lap records during the race.
  • Three tracks per series. Too many tracks available for each series makes the races more chaotic, the level more uneven and the rotation of Thursdays and tracks irrelevant. Racing the same tracks during the week allows you to improve your times, thus having closer and cleaner races.
  • Dynamic weather in 20, 30 and 60 minute races.
  • Probability of rain in the races to maintain uncertainty.
  • Credit earning penalty, time restriction in matchmaking and skill rating reduction as a possible method to avoid the numerous dropouts during races.

Better organized events and rotations
  • Popular series such as the Mazda MX5, Ginetta, Formula Mazda and the Prototype class cycling permanently.
  • Possibility of having two series at the same time by increasing or adjusting the time of the next race or, with specific race times in the day.
  • Possibility of alternating one daily series with another during the week, perhaps in those less popular or with fewer players.
  • Number of active events reduced to 6 in order to avoid so many empty lobbies.
  • Remove the thematic series and challenges that are fixed for four/five weeks due to loss of interest and players, and add more simple and varied challenges about the monthly update in the Challenge Hub as a replacement.

A way to have some of the best series cycling on a permanent basis

Identical setup series and Spec Series car list

Series with the same car, with blocked and identical setup for all players.
But not a default setup, but a good one that prioritizes handling.
I think that to avoid increasing the number of events or series, it would be:

Introduction Series
As a replacement for the Qualifer Series where to group lower class cars (E-B) more appropriate for the category.

  • Week 1: 2017 Mazda MX-5 Cup

Licensing system
  • A licensing system that motivates the player to improve or reach a certain rank.
  • More difficult and extensive promotion system, as reaching high ranks such as 4999 should be very difficult or impossible for most players.
  • Design of licenses using the classes (PI)
  • Safety and skill rating should be visible during the race, knowing the possible level of the player would help a lot in certain actions.
  • Player statistics

i had been calling for more fixed setup multiplayer, i dont want spend my time trying to do a configuration that someone will always explore the meta to their favor, at least make classes where everyone use the same setup so its more based on driving skill than setup skill

Maybe with a little luck, in a year or two we’ll have some of that.

I totally agree. It is impossible to create events and league with the tools provided. It is all falling back on Xbox Party Chat. Let us create leagues where pilots can register, calendar, a way to steward the race, rules, ranking.

You can have a look at what SimGrid is doing for LMU, Iracing and ACC. Without this, multiplayer will never kick off and the game will just die.

Literally all the things I’ve thought about you’ve mentioned. I’d love to see all of it added.
Other things I’d like to see would be:

  • Track segment challenges. This would be fun to complete and importantly, help drivers improve.
  • Wet weather physics need urgent improvement.
  • Similar to the F1 games, interaction with a race engineer would be great.
  • Being able to see what tyres the driver around you are on. In general, we need more in race information.
