I’m so excited with my first top 100 place that I just can’t keep my Indy Oval cars to myself any longer. They aren’t finished yet but I’m ahead of a lot of really great drivers and the game for me is about the satisfaction of figuring out what makes a tune and not the points, place, or Achievements so… HAVE AT IT - shake up the leader boards. Critique good/bad is welcomed - expected - BEGGED FOR.
Some may be good elsewhere but with stock brakes and a spool here and there, I doubt it. Tuned all assists OFF and I’ve even switched to sim steering for hotlapping so they are all a little on the tight side.
D Class - 87 Firebird GTA - D Brickyard - 2nd fastest GTA #210 and I’m still working on a no aero build to break #100 and the engine was weird on this one. Upgraded the cam and it make 2 MORE Hp where I needed it - what was strange was that it was 2 more Hp than what was supposed to be the PEAK and at 500 RPM less. It was actually a mistake that I ran it because on paper I wouldn’t have even tried. Yippy - now I get to go re-run C and B class with every combination of engine parts!
C Class - 87 Firebird GTA - C Brickyard - fastest GTA #6xx
B Class - 87 Firebird GTA - B Brickyard - fastest GTA #413
A Class - Ferrari F 50 - Brickyard - #62 LOOK MA I DID IT! - if you can’t beat-em join-em. Tune is still practically stock and I’m excited about the #34 hardcore standing and points but I’m still loosing to 61 other F 50’s! Errrr… I thought I would stop once I made it but now I just want to keep going!!!
I needed to simplify, only 4 turns!
Crash
congrats on the times crash … it looks like you didnt need that can of geek be gone after all haha. will give these a run this weekend
Reaper - Still using my Geek-Be-Gone but I’m running low. I just spent the last hour watching replays from the Mulsanne strait to map out HP to RPM curves and timing coast down to calculate equivalent flat plate area of the no-aero vs min-aero builds so I can calculate which engine and build gives me the most average excess power! I think the no-aero builds are faster if I could just put together 4 messily turns. Then again with 40% of the track a constant radius turn so I wouldn’t be surprised if full down-force ends up the winner.
I went ahead and shared the D/C no-aero builds as Pink/Grey (the main builds were originally Red/White/Blue so pink/grey made sense in my warped mind).
I don’t remember if it’s the C or D class build (both?) that were built with less peak HP and the bigger cam to run 3rd gear all the way around. I definitely set the time in 3rd but I think running 4th through turns 1 and 3 may be faster. Also don’t waist your time with the F50 after 4 laps - the tires start fading and it won’t stay down in the groove.
Thanks in advance for driving my Bicycle (insert link to Reaper’s Bug) ,

Nice work Crash on the F50, easy to drive. I ran just about your exact time… I ran a dirty .302 just barely touch the wall coming out of turn 4 so I know it will go that low. I would think one of top drives can get into .250 range easy. again nice work Mike
Thanks, unfortunately it is basically a build on mostly stock settings so I can’t really take much credit for the F50 tune - YET. I’ve been working on turn 1 & 4 exits playing with toe/camber/diff. Turns 3&4 are always the best on lap ONE, now I just need to figure out why so I can make laps 2-4 just as fast. My first thought was low tire pressure but lowering the cold pressure doesn’t seem to work. My latest tweaks definitely drive better but I just can’t put 4 stinking turns together to see how much faster they really are.
I think I’m done with F50. I managed to find two more builds that were slightly faster with a little more work on the tune. The lighter naturally aspirated build could run with less aero and was faster on the straits but ultimately lost by about 0.2 seconds every time.
Final build/tune:
A Class - Ferrari F 50 - Brickyard II - #24 00:51.696

I’ll pick these up and give them a run when I’m next on.
