I didn’t notice this mentioned in the Update 11 patch notes, and I haven’t seen anyone else mention it, so I thought I’d put the word out that this was another stealth change (along with the virtual rear-view mirror now being available in all driving views/cameras).
This was something being worked on by the Community Team separate from the game code which we just got finished at the end of the week and didn’t require any update. Glad to see you like it, we’re pleased that it’s a much more informative format.
We’ve had some opposite feedback about using QR codes at least on socials - where would you like to see QR codes employed and for which messages?
If a message directs people to a link, I think it should have a QR code in the post body, below the copy. The Discord one from recently is a good example.
We do this for F1 and WRC and player feedback has been positive, especially for patch notes or other important news.
I don’t have a live example I can find right now, but in this image (WRC), the pic on the right would have a QR code filling the empty space.
Our message system is more popup-based than Forza’s but I think you get the idea.
I’m on PC/Steam, and the virtual mirror settings are on the “graphics” tab of the settings menu.
I don’t know if this option is on console.
If you’re on console, check & let us know.
Real question, is there a way to opt out of these messages? Or turn off notifications for that section? Because I want to know if I have a new gift message, but I really don’t want to be bothered with any other messages.
Same, if I’m the kind of person who regularly visits the forums I’m likely already in tune with what’s happening with the game and don’t need reminders.
Even if you don’t visit the forums, if you play regularly then most of the time the messages are telling you about something you already have seen in the game several days prior. Just about every bit of “news” is a nothing new, the only benefit I ever gain is from notifications about rivals times, gifts or how much money tunes/designs have made (pretty sure the folder structure still has the section for Drivatar daily earnings that were written out of both FM and FH ages ago)
